What if it Snows?

I don't know exactly how the missus cooks them, but there is no breading. She does fry them in a pan I think, and there is garlic and butter involved if I remember correctly. Usually I am busy drinking gin and tonics or rye whisky and beer while fiddling with my phone sort of half watching the TV while she cooks them. It always smells good, and there's always a pork chop or steak involved too. I'm going to be home for a week starting tomorrow, so I'll ask her to make some and then try to observe while she cooks, but that gets a little tricky since she hates it when I get in her way in the kitchen while she's cooking.

This is actually the secret of how I get her to make me another gin and tonic: I'll open the freezer and start reaching for the ice and she'll give me a frown and ask, What do you need? in a mildly irritated voice. I'll say, I was just going to make another drink. Do you want one too? And she'll say, No, thank you. Give me your glass. And then I know it is time to go back to the couch and wait for her to bring me a new drink, which is always better than I can make it by the way. Then one of the cats will come over for some petting and we'll enjoy the aroma of cooking Brussels sprouts and pork chops while reading WiiS or something similarly enchanting, while half listening to some crime drama. Then magically a minute later I have a fresh drink too.

I love home time.

 

I got woke up about 5AM this morning. Keri was calling with a Facetime request. It seems Bethany Rose wanted to talk to her poppy. So she and I had a conversation. Keri is scheduled to fly out of Charlotte later headed for Europe. They are lucky to be in a great situation where they have a live-in Au pair who takes care of Bethany when Keri is working and helps when she is at home. All I know about the girl is she is 19 and from Belgium. Speaks several languages.
