Ran into another guy getting ready to return a truck to a lender, but this guy was replacing things such as the windshield and batteries before turning it in. He said he’d get more than the cost returned to his bottom line at the auction. But with all the corruption built up in the world over the past few centuries, does anyone really think this poor guy won’t get the same rock bottom hosing either way?
Why would anyone do this? New parts before returning the truck?

A little confused....are you saying this guy is doing a voluntary repo on his financed truck and he knows it will be auctioned off to satisfy the monies owed ? Therefore. he thinks sprucing up his truck a bit to get more $$$ at auction is to his benefit ?

I'm that way ... when I borrow other people's property I like to return it in better shape then I received it. Notice the defeatism in your language ? " with all the corruption built up in the world " Maybe a person with many defeats and problems in there life will feel that way. I feel with all the opportunities that have become evident in our country it is kinda hard to fail. But back to your ? , yes maybe he thinks the pain of a repo will be less if the equipment is in better condition. I don't know I've never had a repo.

It won't make a difference, the amount of money that these trucks bring is sometimes barely gives a recovery of funds for the lender.

I’m guessing it’s the 2017 Glider Columbia that has $115k owed on it that we’re talking about here?

That makes as much sense as trying to rescue a fish from drowning. And frankly i dont care if its prettyed up if i buy at an auction i tend to assume its there for a #### reason. And if someone has prettyed it up id lowball the bid just because id be concerned someone was trying to hide something.
