I don't own trucks that I have to worry that they won't handle the weight

Good, but it is not about handling, it's all about fuel mileage and tear and wear.

I don't run trucks that I'm worried about wear. Wouldn't own a truck that I had to be worried about that. Bet you run 100's of miles out of the way to avoid any mountains because it's too hard on the truck.

Take as good of care as I can with my 1997, but when it comes down to it the trucks made to work, whether it be 30,000 pounds or 130,000 pounds, just charge appropriately

when I first got my truck I was averaging 3.1 mpg with my flatbed, it was a state highway job that was 8 miles from the house, sometimes they would forget to cancel the truck and we would just blow smoke
For 8 hours and go home….

I do avoid busy or two way highways running extra on freeways, unless there is a load/delivery there. Heck, I'm paying toll and extra 25 miles right now to go around 69 in OK going to Houston. By the time I pass all of the hundred traffic lights I'm saving time and fuel at the end anyways.

Can't avoid mountains running West East no matter what, otherwise I would. :D

Agree. Will always have flat floors, long as hauling everything on pallets.

Interesting conversation. It seams like people are loading/unloading reefers by hand here. For the past since Covid19 I was not allowed to be in the loading area and touch anything. Am I being racially profiled?

I load my own trailer every week, and unload where I’m allowed

if I’m not allowed inside I’ll stay off the door and move/downstack stuff if I have to
