That’s broilers I believe.

 

Ours don’t run around the yard. I have a “chicken pasture” that they stay in.

 

They were going to be caged hens a few weeks after that picture.

Had broilers for years. No more of those. Some pullets off and on.

 

Gotcha. We looked into it at one time. It was an insane amount of investment to get a contract. Had to have 4 houses minimum I think each one was 150k to build. This was 20 years ago too

 

I grew up in it @40 years of it. It was like most other things good years and bad years wondering whats next. You dont want to know what they cost today. Its kinda like being a driver and its always the drivers fault. Bad birds and it was the growers fault.
