I just got done having yet MORE problems with the new company fuel card system, QuikQ. It has YET to work correctly anywhere I went.
Well today, I pull up to the pump, it actually scans correctly and then I try to put in my employer ID and the keypad won't work right. 3 attempts and it locked the pump. Now I have to go inside and have them manually turn it on.
Well, lo and behold, I walk in and there is one person behind the diesel desk and 5, yes FIVE people waiting in line to check out. I can't cut in front of everyone so I have to get at the back of the line. I finally get to the front, have her turn it on and return to my truck only to have the guy who pulled in behind me out of his truck looking at me, bowed up like he wanted to fight me with a look of rage and anger on his face. I try the pump, it's still locked. So I have to go BACK inside, and get behind now THREE people waiting to check out, to tell her the issue. She then gives me something else to try, I return to my truck a 3rd time and it doesn't work. I then go back inside and have to stand behind 2 people checking out to let her know it didn't work. She finally says she'll come out there and reset the pump for me. Which she did.
By this time, my truck had been sitting in the fuel island unattended for over 30 minutes. FINALLY bowed up dude figured out I was having trouble with the pump and just fueled in the island next to me. But I definitely didn't like his attitude, with him thinking I was inside ####ing off when I was actually walking on a broken toe, up and down 2 flights of steps, back and forth to the 2nd to last fuel island 4 times to finally get my pump turned on.
So just because you see a truck unattended in a fuel island does NOT mean they are inside getting a sodey water and a cheese burger. It could be that they are fighting the pump and fighting long lines inside the truck stop every time they return to the desk for more help. I think as more and more companies switch over from Comdata and EFS to QuikQ, this will get MORE, not less, common.
Anyone not familiar with QuikQ, its supposed to be more secure than EFS or Comdata because it scans an RFID card attached to my truck when I pull in. I only have a couple of minutes to get the pump going before it shuts off. I'm immune to card skimmers at the pump since I never scan a card when I pull up anymore. It just sucks trying to get it to actually work right.
Please drivers: don't assume things when you pull up to the fuel island

Pretty easy solution, I do it all the time, I go and talk to my fellow driver behind me if I’m having an issue and let them know the problem, so they can adjust their day and act accordingly.
I might be an oddball though, I like to communicate with others directly - so far in life it’s worked out.HillbillyDeluxeTruck, cke, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 51 others Thank this. -
Always check to make sure nobody pulled the handle on your fifth wheel in these situations. It's actually a good practice to visually check that every time you leave your truck unattended and come back to it.

Umm, isnt there a phone right next to the pump that you can use when you are having problems?

QuickQ is actually pretty good. The only real issue we’ve had is when the entire system in a single location blocks us out, for some reason. Love’s usually gets it sorted out, at some point. But, I just roll onward to their next location. We have PFJ cards, as a backup.

Not to mention, every single step I took was excruciatingly painful due to my broken toe so I wasn't about to walk toward that dude. I didn't know him and he was not smiling. I didn't need any trouble.TNSquire Thanks this. -
