While I understand your situation, can you understand the companies? They at one time had work in one region now they don't, so on what basis would you be able to take legal action against them. So they've even offered to help you by offering you a dedicated run, and you clearly state that you refused due to a lower pay check so again how are you planning on taking legal action? It may be time to look for a job where you can be close to home, or reconsider their offer.

Life is all about choices. Sound like you have three.
    1. They offered you a route that could get you home more regularly, but you think it will pay less. Have you asked for details? I was on a dedicated “regional” that ran from ks to qc/on every week. Plenty of miles and basically otr.

    2. Stay otr with the same company and don’t get home as much as you would like. Operations and customers change. That “regional” run no longer exists at my company. So I moved on to other runs.

    3. Quit and find something else. Two years works for some places, but it’s not the golden ticket drivers make it out to be. A company will hire you or they won’t, it just depends on their needs at that exact moment.

Call yer dispatcher and tell them you ain’t budging until you get some satisfaction. Of course, they’ll likely tell you to make sure to scrub yer mitts after yer done.

You don’t need 2 years OTR. I don’t know who tells people this crap. You need a year for a lot of places, but not OTR. It can be almost anything as long as it’s tractor-trailer experience.
With the market like it is, some places can be pickier than usual; certainly the better places, but even then they’ll either hire you or they won’t. Get that two years BS out of your head. Even if you want to stay, 2 years regional is exactly the same thing.

The reality is, these companies don't have to do anything they don't want to do. They are going to do what's best for their bottom line. You have to do the same thing. You gotta treat your life like a business. You do what's best for your bottom line. I started with Western Express 15 years ago and hometime was an issue with them. Other than that, I had a good experience there. I didn't mind running long stretches, but there were times I wanted to rest at home, or attend events. The didn't always acquiesce to that. I had to make a change. I wanted to be able to run a lot, but at the same time, when I need a break, I need a break. You've got a year in with a clean record. You've got enough time to at least put some feelers out there. You'll probably need regional. You'll have to post your location to get some hits.
