I agree I need to practice, just honestly haven’t had much of a chance. Either I’m out of time or the lot is not good to “practice”. I have made a few difficult spots with no issues but I GOAL at least several times and use pull ups. I will work on it more and try to do it everyday.

I too find myself muttering under my breath at some of these drivers…

Most of the truck stops I’ve seen don’t enforce it, and won’t bother with getting a spot open. Although I know some are quite strict. I guess it’s either all or nothing.

There should be far more parking available! It’s quite unreasonable. I don’t understand how they let it get so bad. If you’re out east and it’s after 3 PM, good luck buddy. You might be in a place you can still snag one, but I doubt it. Then basically you can try the next one or wait around and hope someone pulls out and you see it first. There’s over 3,000,000 trucks on the roads in the US and less than 300,000 spots to park!

I’ll keep this in mind. But most of my checks here are under $500. Just checked and I qualify for food stamps!

Parking at my delivery is my first choice definitely. I am utilizing trucker path and google maps, find them both very helpful.
Great advice about stopping my clock sooner. I think that will make a big difference. I always want to run the clock out, but clearly that is not a great plan!

EVERY TIME the truck comes to a stop on private property is the perfect time to back in to a spot and then go about your business. You recognize you are not as competent at backing as you want/should become so you have no excuse for not backing into a spot for practice every day.

EVERY TIME you pull into a truck stop for ANY REASON, find a place with 2 empty spots side by side. Back into one of those and imagine the other empty spot is full of a flashy show truck. Those aren't just painted lines on the ground, that front corner of the painted line if the front corner of a chromed out beautiful truck. NEVER let your tires cross over one of those painted lines as a shortcut because " if it was a real truck you would not take that shortcut". "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect." EVERY time you take a shortcut or make an excuse for not backing you are only delaying the day you can back into the tight spot you need to get into. Don't think of it as hard work, think of it as "I'm one step closer to this being easier."

Does your company reimburse for paid parking? If so, turn in the receipt and let them pay. I maybe only paid out of my pocket for something truck related 5 times in 28 years. 3-4 of those were $1-2 for electrical fuses. None of us are expecting YOU to pay.
