I believe ASU is ok with letting me attend part time. Also the semesters are only 8 weeks. So I would most likely try to do 1-2 classes per semester. Hopefully that gets me on pace to do just under full time. So degree in about 3.5 years.
Is it reasonable to ask for 6 weeks off?

free ride to experience with a clean record. That’s so smart! That makes a lot of sense. -

Monthly the requirements are to maintain a Gold rating which is equal to 100 points. Every delivery is 1 point. Lunch 11-2 is 3 points dinner is 5-9 6 points.
Realistically an average person could do 2 trips an hour with 3 happening often and 4 possible sometimes.
100 points can be attainted in 2 dinner shifts, plus possibly 1 lunch shift. It’s almost possible to hit 100 points in a single day, I’ve gotten over 90 before.
My current job I’m on pace to make less than $30,000 this year. Almost every check is under $500.
I would make significantly more just driving Uber. I regularly made over $800 a week driving 35-40 hour a a week on Uber eats.
I’m definitely too cheap to pay for my own degree or I would have done it already. I like the idea of Uber specifically Uber paying for it. Let them pay.
I don’t actually intend to use the degree, I just want it for self satisfaction. I’ve got some JJC credit I could transfer. Probably 60 or 70 but it’s been a while I’ll look at that once I hit 2,000 trips.Last edited: Nov 3, 2024

your job sounds pretty nice too -
ASU is 100% online so no need to go home. As far as I know it’s also completely self paced and most classes don’t have traditional tests.
if I was making money I wouldn’t be worried about Uber but I’m not making any and I don’t see a single person suggesting anything except continuing to not make money for a year. -
You’re new with no experience. We were all there at one time in our life and I doubt any of us made good money at our first driving job. You need to have a plan for the future. Can you live off what you make from Uber? What if a company will hire you but you have to go out with a trainer again and start over at the bottom? On paper you will have 3 months experience but off the last two months before applying for a job. Right now companies can afford to be choosy with their hiring. Just don’t get mad and quit your current job without a plan. And have a couple backup plans just in case.
TX2Day and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -
Maybe work jb Hunt and see if that's bearable.
