After not being able to stand the thought of doing another load for a company that actually boils my blood, turned the truck in to the first company a few days ago and I start orientation in two days for my new company.
I had the new job lined up before quitting and I’ll only have had one week of off time during the transition.
what do I do? How do I make sure I don’t screw this up. I have a clean driving record for 5+ years and 3 months of recent OTR experience. I live in Chicago area (actually I’m homeless) and am going into a regional driving position that also does hand unloading of 2-3 trailers per week.
The company I left was much less safety oriented than the company I am going to.
I’m expecting to make 1,100-1,500 a week. Supposed to drive 1500 miles or less per week and unload 2-3 trailers by hand and it’s at many stops. No stop pay
I get .59 cents mile and $130 empty pay plus $15 an hour for any on duty. Once my hazmat comes thru it bumps to .62 cents mile.
happy thanksgiving!
Switching companies early on

As a driver to to do what suits you. A lot of companies feel you're replaceable. Unfortunately, not the case when a driver has a Clean driving record. 177K drivers at risk of losing commercial vehicle driving privileges as November downgrade deadline looms Always keep yourself above the rest is the key to success!
