I’m going home after I deliver in Clayton but conditions weren’t great so I went ahead and shut down in South Jacksonville, Illinois to wait out the weather. I’m going to be home for nearly a week (doctors appointments on Monday and Friday) so there’s no reason to rush. It was slow going today on 36 and I-72, for all that I only saw 3 trucks in the ditches (2 embarrassing winchouts and one expensive looking rollover).

Made it back up to Fremont this morning with the New truck, got all the necessary paperwork completed, truck is in the shop getting stickered and the camera and tablet installed.
The dealer performed a DOT and inspection, and it passed, it also would pass FCCs inspection, but Travis said the drive brakes were at 40% and the steer brakes were at 50% (newer disc brakes all the way around) so harder to visually see during my inspection at the dealer. So I just told Travis to put all new pads all the way around so I’m starting fresh.
Once that’s finished I get to move all my stuff back into this new truck, good times. I will pick up in Aurora tomorrow going out to Victorville, Ca for a drop sometime Monday. -
Only been sitting here for an hour and this is my view out of the windshield

I've never seen the inside of an international truck. Will it fit a condo refrigerator (Like the ones in the Freightliners) if you wanted to have one?Last edited: Jan 10, 2025

Apparently i get turned into a regional driver for my last week on the road before hometime. If i ever get out of Indy, i’m to drop this trailer in Shelby, IA then pick up another one going to a Menards store in Norfolk. Then i run to Aurora to pick up a load going to Lancaster. I used to do that run all the time when i was on SWR
My truck will be way overdue for service but oh well. Can’t help it if dispatch keeps me away but then routes me through the Omaha area on the weekend…
I would go back to SWR if i could avoid DFWGoody3635, DonRobbie and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Roads look like this. I don’t have much reason to believe they’ll be better in the morning

Delivered this morning in Roca NE. Dispatch sends a message to head to Valley to drop my trailer and he was working on a load for me.
Get to the 77N exit and he calls and lets me know my load. Irrigation parts from valley going to Tifton GA for Monday. The load took a few hours to come out after I got there, but all is well. Secured the load and got my paperwork. Left valley with 4 hrs on my clock. I don’t think I’ll get a 34 this weekend. I’ll do some math on that later and see if it’s worth it.runningman0661, Knucklehead, DonRobbie and 1 other person Thank this. -

i don’t know why most manufacturers think that small fridges with tiny freezer compartments are acceptable for sleeper trucks. I mean the one in my Peterbilt was okay when i was on SWR since i only needed food for a handful of days. But when i went back OTR, i had them take the passenger seat out and i got an actual fridge i could use from Menards
That’s the biggest advantage of having a Freightliner here is that FCC actually puts a fridge worth a #### in themGoody3635, FullMetalJacket, Knucklehead and 4 others Thank this. -
The simple answer is that the size of the fridge needs to jive with the size of the cabinets. Can’t fit a 24” wide fridge in an 18” cabinet. There’s probably a pretty large percentage of people that don’t care one way or the other. The truck I got in 2019 was the first one I owned with a factory fridge. I hardly used it, sometimes I’d turn it on and maybe keep some sandwich stuff and drinks in it. My current truck is the first one where I’ve used it on a regular basis.
