It is an important lesson for others that read your thread. Always keep a credit card and/or cash on hand. You never know when you will need it.hope not dumb twucker, austinmike, Magoo1968 and 12 others Thank this. -
My debit card got flagged for fraud one time and bank had to send me a new one while i was on the road. I didn’t even entertain the idea of getting a cash advance. I just defaulted to a credit card for awhile. You’ll have to pay it back either way so

Reality of it for me @bzinger the breed of old school driver, that speaks up, stands up for themselves, and moves on when it’s time, like you, is dying off. These companies get off on their power trips and typically have a mentality of “you’re just a butt in the seat”. I’m not saying that jumping ship is always the answer, but maybe if more guys quit putting up the BS these companies would get back to at least some sort of level of respect for their drivers. I’ve worked for my employer 12 years now, and although I’m one of their top producers, I know my place, and the older I get the less I like that feeling.

I've already made friends with a couple people at the jack links plant near me and found out shortly before I started a bunch of drivers suddenly quit , but I'm over it and will just avoid contact with the pissy people as much as possible.
Ohhhhhh and my better half would probably kill me if I quit this job so there is that fear too lol.hope not dumb twucker, Sirscrapntruckalot, austinmike and 9 others Thank this. -

Every company that I've ever worked for charged a fee to take an advance - typically larger than paying interest on $100 at 18% for 3 months. If they'd said yes to the $100, but took $105 out of your next pay check, what would your reaction be? "Man, my company is great, I was in a jam and they helped me out" or "I was in a jam and the company squeezed my nuts to get me out of it"?
As to "operations and shop people have the personality's of a bucket of drywall mud" - as long as they're doing their job in such a way as it doesn't impact the way you do your job, so what?
One of the problems I have at my new gig is people wanting to be overly friendly. My truck has been having a slow coolant leak for the last month, put it in the shop when it started but it's one of those 'we need it get worse so we can find it' deals. Last Wednesday it got worse for the City guy and he put it in the shop. When I went to grab my gloves and Kleenex box the mechanic wanted to chat, so I chatted. Internally I'm screaming "I want to get to work so I can do my work and then go home". I'm used to superficial "hey, how about that home team?" type phatic phrases that initiate a conversation about what needs to be done, not sharing details about my private life. This whole "have relationships at work" thing is weird and uncomfortable, particularly with people I've just met and haven't established a trust baseline with. Give it time - some folks will warm up, some won't - but as long as they're doing their job let them be and don't let it bother you. Remember Eeyore - the proverbial stick in the mud, but did Pooh Bear ever try and change him? Nope, he accpeted Eeyore for who he is.hope not dumb twucker, Sirscrapntruckalot, Feedman and 4 others Thank this. -
