An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

Interesting start today. I get to the Wichita yard and can't pull in because there is a Volvo pulling the companion load to mine high centered in the driveway and stuck. He called Scott and was waiting for him to get there and get things moving...and of course, Scott came in with a huffy attitude(and this was at 0700, so it wasn't like it was the middle of the night). If he is like that with everyone, I don't see how anybody can stand working at this terminal. I think they fired the wrong person when they got rid of Bridget...maybe they should have promoted her and #### canned Scott.

And it was a good thing I talked to the stuck driver. For some reason he thought he was going to Savannah until he looked at his dispatch and realized he was on a Mt Vernon, SC load...I hope he wasn't supposed to pick up the wing load @kylefitzy preloaded, but picked up the Boeing can instead.

 

Got in the yard, then dropped my flatbed. I decided to bobtail to Walmart since I don't know the next time I will have the chance with this OD load. Got back to the yard, put on the OD bling on my truck, hooked up and got out of dodge(without getting stuck in our terminal's driveway). Not sure why the states insist on putting in so many roundabouts. I'm 85' long, with my fixed tandems all the way to the rear, it makes it interesting going around a roundabout that was designed for a straight truck, or 4 wheeler. And all of my routes out of Wichita to MO were on US routes.

And I still don't have my TN permit. I have everything else except TN. Plus, in SC, they're running me all the way up I-95 to I-26, then down to Charleston. I guess there might be some low obstructions going up US-17. But hey, when your on a permitted load, you have to follow the route...and then get paid hub miles...so it means mo money-mo money-mo money.

 

His air was up at ride height on both the truck and the trailer, either his tires are worn or he hit it too slow. The ride/raise knob on the air valve was f'd up and it took a pair of pliers to turn it to raise the airbags above normal ride height. Even with Scott pushing with the forklift it almost didn't pull free. My trailer drug a little, but after driving Moore's loaded double drops all those years, I learned how to angle a low trailer over high spots to prevent getting high centered across the entire width. It was the passenger side ramp that got hung up, so even raising the trailer's airbags to their max height wouldn't have brought the front of the trailer enough to clear that edge of the concrete where it meets the dirt. We're both pulling XL trailers, maybe his spacer plates were set to the lower ride height than mine.

And I won't even get to GA before the weekend. I reset before that delivery to Pueblo, so I had the last part of the trip from north of Denver to Pueblo, then to Park City, then to Rancho. Then the live load in Fontana to Loveland and back to Wichita, so my hours are low. I most likely won't deliver until Tuesday depending on travel restrictions on the weekend in states between MO and SC. I can be in TN tomorrow, but until TN gets us the route, I won't be able to cross the state line.
