"My friend, a driver for ABC Trucking said his company required him to report any tickets or accidents to the company in 30 days or less. I was wondering, do we have a company policy like that here?"

I wouldn't say a thing. I totaled two vehicles in 30 days time around 6 years ago. No citations, not my fault. Deer decided to have a test of strength contest with my personal rides. And, the heck of it is both accidents happened within a 100 feet of each other. The cop on the second one (I think he was a game warden) said deer like to travel the same path. I have no idea about that but I told the gentleman "Well, it'd be nice if they at least let me have use of the path part of the day!". Anyway, I never said a word to my employer.
Sirscrapntruckalot, D.Tibbitt, kemosabi49 and 3 others Thank this. -
Just ask your employer and see what they say. I seriously doubt you'd lose your job over it.

Why even put a claim against your insurance? Was the vehicle totaled? Undriveable? Will the cost of repair, after your deductible, be worth the possible hassle with your employer?

There is a lot of confusion about reporting. A carrier can require you to notify them. Some people incorrectly want to quote 383.31 and interpret this as saying you must notify. It does unless section (d) does not apply to you. Generally speaking, ALL states are supposed to be informing home states of convictions.
Now let's move to what 391.25 requires. So much of this has changed over the years with the advent of the CDLIS, so I will tag @brian991219 and if I am wrong he will correct me.
I don't think the FMCSA requires a driver to self-report these days. The FMCSA just requires the carrier to do a yearly check.tscottme Thanks this. -

If somebody asks than you always answer “another driver cut me off making me loose control” or a “I was avoiding impact with a deer or cat that was on the road”
