Look like all prefab stuff... wonder if he had belly straps or just threw a bunch over the top. Guys lucky for sure.
TheLoadOut, Flat Earth Trucker and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
What do you expect, he had straps, and before some of you get bent out of shape, I can see that it’s painted/coated steel. I would still use chains but use softners to keep the shipper happy.
Sons Hero, beastr123, TheLoadOut and 4 others Thank this. -
The load shifted from just slamming the brakes? Should have used chains.
TheLoadOut and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

I can’t quite tell due the extent of the damage but it looks like the Cascadia had a headache rack behind the cab as well..
Driver is going to need a lottery ticket or two.Diesel Dave, D.Tibbitt and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
I’ve hauled a bunch of structural steel from Afco Metals, man that junk all different sizes, some he like a foot maybe two long on top, 13’6 high, 8-10 tiers. You’d climb all over and throw the small pieces in gaps to the deck or in between other pieces.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

Once the momentum starts the real problem begins so anything that slows (or preferably stops) that process from starting is going to help.
Sometimes it's a bulkhead made from my dunnage. Sometimes it's cross chains/straps. Etc etc.
Everyone likes to claim headache racks don't protect you and I agree they aren't shields but every little bit helps and I feel confident that if that rack wasn't there those beams would have made contact with the driver.
