I have not looked into any other opportunities as of yet. Not that I don’t appreciate your help, I do. I was supposed to go straight into fedex and then that fell thru. I have just been checking the Schneider board everyday hoping they post something new but it’s slim pickings right now.

A joke, sirtscottme, Numb, austinmike and 2 others Thank this. -
Um go back orange and go tankers. Chicago is a better place for employment in trucking. You could do something that pays less with less stress like JB Hunt. Talk to your old boss and see if he would hire you to dollar general again?
Job hopping it's all up to the employer.
Personally you need another 4 months. You need the time. The money will come later.austinmike, bryan21384 and Chi Town Steers Thank this. -

Look dude, you are a driver, and my advice to you is to be a driver. Focus on you and your driving for a few years at one company, not three or four, or be a ping pong. Become an asset, not a commodity or a liability.
Whether you like it or not, there are changes coming to how drivers are going to be in the future. With 2.1 million estimated CDL holders out there (I would say 1/3 don't even use it), there is a lot of room for improvement. This is the second most common job; retail is number one by three times.
Right now the trends are going toward this shift because of the problems that cheap labor and crap drivers have caused. Many of the problems are because FMCSA/US DOT will not tighten up on the education of the drivers; it is so easy to get a CDL, the exams are simple, the road test is a joke, so you just have to breathe, and they hand a CDL to you.
The outcome of ALL OF THIS is really simple - the insurance companies that run this entire industry will set the limits for the drivers, and they will welcome automation with open arms, with fewer liabilities.
Once this starts, people will not be able to use this as a rescue method in their lives; they either work towards a CDL and earn it like an electrician or plumber, or they will not be able to drive.
I will repeat what I said, so listen carefully, you are a driver, and my advice to you is to be a driver. Focus on you and your driving for a few years at one company, not three or four, or be a ping pong. Become an asset, not a commodity or a liability.TripleSix, Sons Hero, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
