So, I have a question for anyone that might know, im suppose to be starting with them on a regional account hauling a dry van trailer, home weekends, now i have been in the industry for years now and always thought cfi was a training company, but when they told me I needed 3 years experience just to get on the account, I was surprised, I have over 3 years so that wasent a issue, but something just dosent sound right, they also said I could make 100k a year, which is also questionable especially at 58 cpm. anybody have any experience with them?

I was hired by them right after heartland bought them. Treated me well but they had almost no freight. Everything was being gobbled up by heartland drivers first.

Spoke to a couple cfi drivers a few days ago and they say miles are still slim pickins.

I don't really know anything about CFI specifically, but it's not uncommon for large carriers with different regional or dedicated accounts to have stricter hiring standards for these accounts vs. their standard OTR fleet. The regional and dedicated accounts likely serve a tighter customer base, and with the shorter hauls comes more backing, more appointment times to meet, more big city traffic, etc., so they want to have the more experienced drivers on these accounts.

The trade-off is usually these accounts will pay better and/or have a better home time schedule.

Ask them to give you contact information for a few of them so you can confirm.

I see in your original post you said they are paying 58 CPM. For a regional job that seems kinda low. There may be accessorial pay, bonuses, etc. that supplements the pay, but that's a question someone else will have to answer.

I personally would be hesitant to accept that low of a mileage pay, but I admit I have a pretty bitter taste in my mouth for mileage pay in general, especially for regional positions, just based on my own experiences.

On the other hand, as far as I know CFI is not a terrible company. Might be worth doing as the above post suggests and try to reach out to some current drivers to get better info.

    Either way, good luck!

In truth -- if you have 3+ years experience already under your belt (with a clean record) -- you should be able to get better than CFI.

    Easy examples of better:
    • Holland Enterprises
    • Fremont Contact Carriers
    • Climate Express
    • Transland

I give a vote to Climate Express lol.....but all those are good choices.

Other Missouri carriers that'll hire experienced drivers:

Christensen, CTI, CEI, Witte Bros, Woody Bogler, Siedhoff, Butler, Convoy
