Job hopping is such a joke, dangerous jobs for crap pay is the norm, nobody gave a rats ### about my military experience this far, and the megas couldn't exist if they weren't turning over 90% a year. Their CSA scores are low because they bring in 2 brand new licenses every year for every single truck. It's the game
I found a job on Craigslist, but it’s not what you think

If you feel that container moving, make sure you're not on a ship heading to another country.

I'd say if it looks good to you, try it and make the best of it.
Understand the equipment probably isn't perfect, and it's not reasonable to expect it to be perfect. But that's not to say you should run anything that isn't legal and safe for the road.
You may learn a thing or two about fixing things on your own, and not having a "1-800-ibrokedown" number plastered to the dash. That alone, if you can do basic repairs yourself, puts you a step ahead of half the flip flop wearers out here.
It could end up being a lot of fun, or it can be pure misery, depending on how you view ithope not dumb twucker, BoostedTeg, Numb and 1 other person Thank this. -
However, respectfully, I think you might not be calculating the pay difference correctly.
You said you're making the exact same money at this job as Schneider. Is this new job a W2 or a 1099 gig?
If it's a 1099 gig, you're on the hook for the employer part of taxes that W2 employers pay. You're also on the hook for your own healthcare plan. You're also not getting your 401k match that Schneider would've given you. And can you get per diem with this job? If not, more taxes are coming out of your check if you don't have per diem to help shield your tax burden.
With your living conditions, are you rooming with other people or do you have your own room/own container (that sounds weird saying that lol)? Do you have indoor plumbing in that container with showers and a toilet? Do you have heat and AC, doesn't Vegas still get cold during the wintertime?
This definitely seems like an adventure lol, this setup looks way worse to me than living out of the truck especially if you don't have indoor plumbing and AC/heat in your container.
But on the positives if things run smoothly for you (big if with their safety scores), then you won't be working 70 hour work weeks either and you'll get 8 days off per month like a normal person.
Also are you in a sleeper truck or a day cab? What's his policy if you the truck breaks down or you get caught up in winter weather, will he pay for hotels? -
With Schneider, he was doing OTR in a daycab and no hotel room allowed, unless he pays for it himself with no reimbursement.

And you don't know whether you're rooming with others or getting the whole container to yourself?
It kind of sounds like those "man camps" in the oil fields. But all of those have all the amenities of normal housing accommodations, so I'm wondering what the situation is in the container you'll be living in. I can't imagine living in that container in the desert without AC.hope not dumb twucker and Chi Town Steers Thank this.
