I've always used Craigslist personally. Made sure to rent from the occupant who also was the owner. Verify on public database and confirm they're current on property taxes. I had a whole system.

Thanks. That was the goal! Especially on CL. Lots of thieves and addicts.

I like Craigslist, I've used it a lot, mainly for buying and selling cars. I'm going to drive to Houston which is 1500 miles, so I've 3 or 4 days to start looking. I already found a room at an extended stay for less than a grand per month. Found it on Craigslist in Houston. Actually there's 2 different options at under a grand in Houston. I'm going to keep looking.

I'd feel safer in any Chinatown.

I bought a used SUV for my son recently. I can't drive it because it's too complicated; all computerized.
The thing keeps braking on it's own.
    It's a Lincoln All-Wheel Drive Nautilus.
Dealer said minimum $1000.00 to hook it to a diagnostic computer.
Probably another $1K - $6K to find out whats wrong and repair it.
Took the car to a back alley Chinatown Las Vegas shop.
Left it there and we returned home in the other car.
Few minutes after arriving home, the Chinatown shop called and said ,
"your car is ready, come get it."
    How much do we owe?
    $15.00
"What was wrong with the car?"
Answer, "Loose wire close to the brake pedal."
    That's right, a total of $15.00
That's another reason I trust Chinatown areas.

I need to get some help with this Prius I bought. It has a salvage title but runs and drives fine. The problem is the turn signal. It's separate from the headlight, it's goes where the fog light would be. The problem is the plastic shroud that holds the turn signal housing, it's missing, and buying just the shrouding is a harder than I was anticipating.

Do you want the China shop phone number? I don't know how well he speaks English though.
Maybe you don't have time to deal with that since you're leaving for Houston ASAP.
Houston has a pretty good size Chinatown and Little Saigon Vietnamtown.

Plenty of local jobs in Houston, if you don't want OTR and if the Schneider Tanker doesn't work out.
