FCC--Fremont Contract Carriers

I think the last time I inquired about it, it was about 30 or so

 

Deadheading home from Topeka for the weekend going 70 mph and I was still getting passed by trucks like I was sitting still...

 

Told dispatch I'd prefer to leave out Sunday instead of Monday if possible. They said plan on Monday for now. I got a call right at closing time saying they found me a load from Crete to Houston. Almost 1,000 miles total. Great! Then I found out it's going to a Kroger DC...for some absurd time Monday night. My eye is currently twitching right now

 

I drive for Tyson foods so refrigerated. If it is the dc off gelhorn they are hit and miss as to how long they hold you up

 

This weekend is our anniversary. I only had 20 or so hours left on Thursday, so I bounced out of Olathe for ACT and grabbed a load though the house. Currently chilling in Branson. Show tonight, golf tomorrow, and stupid amounts of great food between. D/h in West Jefferson on Monday, then back to Richmond for Olathe.

 

Dude I feel ya. Hate Kroger dc's with a passion.

 

I’ve been doing reefer almost 4 years since I left FCC. 95% Costco DC’s, 5% meat loads direct to customer. It’s why I’ve kept at it. Grocery warehouses suck.

 

So after a few weeks of included Broker runs etc, I was assigned probably the best run I’ve had here at FCC short of the SoCal to Savannah run. Grabbed a DnH from Columbus NE to Spencer MA. Upon arrival drop this load and grab a preloaded trailer and straight back to Columbus NE. 3200 round trip with one DnH midway and a required 34 on the way back.

This will feel like I’m on vacation… lol …

It is nice that they do switch things up a bit. Ya, we might have a few odd weeks of broker Live Loads and Live Unloads but it kind of balances out when we can just sit back and roll down the highway for 5-6 days.

 

And… In other News…

I recently had my new annual review… seems I’ve now been here for five years. They indicated that they would keep me on for another year and reevaluate again at that point.

Time does fly.

In summary, pretty darn happy I decided to follow a few drivers from the Green Fleet to hop into these Red Trucks. It’s worked out pretty good and I’m looking forward to hanging around a bit longer.
