That is one thing I do not miss about working for mega carriers. Fuel solutions, while I fully understand why they are done, drove me nuts as a company driver. Now, my biggest pain with relation to fuel is how much do I need to add to a truck so that when I deliver it the gauge reads between 1/8 and1/4 tank (unless the salesman said to deliver it full) so that we don't give away free fuel. Driveaway is a whole different animal.

At least we don't have any preferred or must use fuel stops. I trust my drivers, and the company trusts me to manage their money effectively, so I allow them to fill wherever it is convenient for them. Most of the time we fuel at mom and pops or smaller chains like QT or independent Am Best locations.

I did that one day last week. A coworker met me at a customer I was delivering to, I pulled a skid off going to a place 48’s can’t get into, and shoved it on his pup trailer.

I would've taken 85 north out of Cheyenne to SD to get 90...a lot more prettier drive and zero traffic

There's one thing that annoys me a lot more than it should with this company, and I don't even drive for them

It drives me nuts when I see red trucks pulling blue trailers and blue trucks pulling red trailers...

    maybe it's just my OCD

They decided to play the whole Red White and Blue motif back in the day after Duane mashed Shaffer and Crete together in 2003. I think it was a "response" to the national pride thing after 9/11. Seeing as the red vs blue tractors are out of balance, they couldn't get a full 50/50 split. That's why you still see so many red Cretes still pulling red trailers and not so many blue Shaffers pulling blue reefers
