Westmount is its own city within Montreal. They have all their own services (public works departments, facilities). The share transit and water, but have paid for dedicated fire and police stations. Several years ago, we arrived at the conclusion that we all despised residentials, and dad started just turning them away when they called. Never missed them either. All our commercial contracts are on a 1” trigger, and it was nearly impossible to keep homeowners happy. Either they complained, and withheld payment because they didn’t think it would have been needed, or they called all bent out of shape because they wanted to be cleaned out before they went to work. Never could fathom how we couldn’t just drop and run RIGHT NOW!!! Then when you got there, they thought you should skip the salt and just plow, save a few bucks. We had several that were fine, but we had a great relationship with several chains of banks, Dollar Generals etc, and the residentials were enough drama, it was an easy decision.

 

Visited the City Website and reviewed the Rules and Regulations regarding the Building Industry
