They have a terminal in Charlotte. As for hiring you, I have no idea as I am a driver. Just give them a call.

I have not posted here in a long time so I thought it was time to act upon my god given freedom of speech while I still can.

I completed my training through Squire which was a great experience. I maintained good miles and made it home when I asked. My trainer was top notch even though I think he had a midget fetish but thats a whole other story.

While at Squire you will obtain the tools needed to become a productive and safe driver with Knight. You will make mistakes but the DM's are there to help you when you get flustered. The great thing about this program is everyone is a pleasure to deal with and most drivers and trainers remains friends and stay in contact with one another once the trainee has left the safety of the trainer and be thrust into the world of solo driving. With the exception of hitting 6 pedestrians in a cross walk outside of an ethnic school for the blind..( hey, it wasn't my fault, they wern't watching) and taking out 2 rows of tricked out choppers owned by a group of bikers wearing leather with ## man chu's ## and a couple of them sporting cowboy hats with assless chaps parked outside a gay bath house, I did fine.

All in all it was a great experience and I have to give Kudo's to my trainer for not pulling out his hair and going postal on me due to my relentless badgering of him because he suscribed to the magazine Muttonhouse and then pasting pictures of sheep in lingerie all over his bunk.

Honk if you think Barny Frank is sexy......

So I take it that you still work for Knight, how do you like it? Now that you've been at it a while and all. I am considering doing their training program, that is if I can get hired through them. Its pretty hard to get an honest take on a company on here. Trust me, I've read hundreds of posts by now

    Thanks in advance

It is very hard to get an honest answer here. I will give mine though. First off let me remind you that I have not worked for "other" trucking companies so I have nothing to compare too. That being said, thus far my experience with Knight has been pretty decent.

#1. I get paid for every detention and layover I have requested. I understand other drivers ( reading these posts ) have issues, but I have not...As of yet. That includes my days as a student with Squire as well as Knight.

#2. Since I have been with Knight I have averaged at least 2100 miles per week. ( Yes, even with the E-logs )

#3. I have not had any major issues with my DM. For the most part, he keeps the communication open and lets me know what he is working on for me. If there is a chance I will be sitting for a bit, he gives me a heads up and gives me updates via my cell phone. ( If I am away from the truck )

#4. My fuel routing has been spot on. Some drivers here hate it, but I have had no problems.

#5. When I ask to get home, My DM actually goes out of his way to get me routed back to Las Vegas. It might not be on the exact day I requested, but it is close.

#6. My truck ( Volvo ) is very well maintained and have not had any issues with it.

Bottom line. I have really nothing to complain about with Knight. Again, there will be the Knight haters rebutting what I say and probably accuse me of sucking up to Knight. Just remember, it ALL DEPENDS on who your dispatcher is and where your home terminal is so I hear. So anyways, I am simply giving you my honest experience thus far.

My only real complaint is with the E-logs...Sometimes there is a need for fudgin, I'm just sayin'. And the other complaint is the time I spend on hold waiting to talk to someone. ( A message from me over the qualcom usually gets there attention. ( Sometimes )

Good luck to you in whoever you decide to drive for... :biggrin_255:

I gotta a little change in my pocket going jing a lang a ling....and thats all I have after Obama has done his thing. :UFO:

thank you for responding so fast, wasn't expecting that. I am leaning more towards Knight because of some of the things I've read about them. Trust me, I've been reading these posts for 3 or 4 days now. I already have my class A Cdl, but no OTR company will hire me without going to a school first. Doesn't matter what I've been doing for the past 8 years, so I guess I have no choice. Once again, thank you for quick response.

Try getting a hold of Squire in Fontana. They are a great group and really go the extra mile to make sure your are prepared and will treat you well. Tell them who sent ya...its not hard to figure out, I'm the only squire grad so far that has gone to the Las Vegas terminal...I think

    Good luck

Thanks, I will do that, I still have to go thru this school and after talking to my wife I think I'm going to call the school Monday and get in it. I will tell them Knight is my first choice. Thanks again
