I was on my commute home......on a stretch of highway that is known to be dangerous for truckers and four wheelers. I know this is sad to say but I pay a lot more attention to truckers now since hubby started truckin...(not that I wasn't paying attention before)....I was coming up a hill and as I was cresting the hill in the far right lane...I noticed a truck up ahead of me...and he was driving in the emergency lane (no flashers on) and then suddenly swerved over to correct himself. So, I slowed down and changed lanes to the far left lane...I wanted to get away. As I was passing him in the far left lane...I looked up into the cab, and his head was nodding down, and then jerking back up like he was having trouble staying awake.
I was driving the speed limit but still too fast to get an accurate name of the company. The graphics on the truck were pretty impressive almost too much because I couldn't distinquish the intials for the name of the company.
So, I called information and got the name of dispatch for the SP. I called and reported him to SP, and gave the best description of the truck I could. I feel almost guilty but in the same sense I could have saved his life, and/or another person's life.
If someone saw my hubby doing that I would want the person to do the same exact thing.
So, just had to get this off my chest. It has really bothered me this evening.
Had an experience with a truck on my commute home today....

He may have been nodding off or doped up (or down)...or he may have had hot coffee all over his manhood, dropped his cigarette, dropped his pill (prescribed or not)...heck, he may have even been playing with himself, it happens I reckon.
No need to feel guilty...as long as you did what you felt was right.
At the end of the day, that is all that matters...rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Sweetie I know there are some drivers that would say I'm out of line but you did the right thing. If they stopped him or found him before he had an accident you helped prevent a tragedy. You didnt rat him out but YOU DID help prevent a terrible accident. Thank you for starting to pay more attention out there. And I hope your husband will be proud of you for what you did today. i dont know you but I'm proud of you.

Thank you so much for your response. I just want everyone to be safe since we all share the road.

I understand entirely dear, I have seen more stupid crap on the roads lately than I care to think about. I've even seen troopers texting for crying out loud. And unfortunately I've seen some bad wrecks that coulda been avoided. When people lose respect for the road they get careless and have accidents, big trucks and four wheelers alike.

If you felt his driving was erratic enough to call, you probably should have. Exactly as you said, you were trying to help make the roads a safer place for everyone. No shame in that!
mcr1016 Thanks this. -
well you might feel a little bit bad if you called in to the police to report this and there was really nothing wrong. But I'm willing to bet that if you hadn't called in, and then read about this truck in a terrible accident, you would have felt much worse! Calling in is the safest and most responsible thing to do, the Police can handle or decide what to do next.

Ridgerunner665...No wonder ppl stereotype us, with comments like that.

Stereotype or not...
Its perfectly within the realm of possibility that those reasons could be the cause. -
