Careful what you wish for Mark...
I'm trying to make it play Halo 2 right now,
And it's not doing so good...

If you have the RMA number that would help also.
The TND 500 and TND 700 just hit the warehouse last week.
If you have anymore issues, feel free to E-Mail me.
Thanks,
Mark -
This kind of units are widely available in US and they are called CELLPHONES.
Yes you can do all that with any modern smartphone. And if you're lucky enough to have the new EVO 4G, you'll have also a front facing camera, so you can be videocalling wife while u drive. (it doesn't mean that YOU will have to watch HER while driving for safety reasons - you can run Google Navigation on top and QIK in the background)
Oh and BTW, EVO's screen size is the same as my 465T's.
I don't really want to come across as a cellphone salesman here but I need to say this.
I was driving last night Laredo-McKinney-Dallas running THREE GPS devices (talk about redundancy lol) 465T, TMD700 and Google Navigator on my cellphone. ONLY the Navigator took me EXACTLY the route I wanted to go. Plus you can use satellite imagery layer which makes all "line assists" obsolete.
While I realize it might've been a fluke, the way my other devices (especially garmin) was wrong, was astonishing.
Both standalone devices tried to take me longer or slower or more obscure routes. No, I don't assume they tried to take me on restricted road (though I didn't check) which Navigator eventually will.
But it happened with these so called "truckers" GPS's too so what's the difference?
Oh the PRICE? Yea. Google Navigator is FREE!
Only downside is that as far as I know it's only for Android phones so all of you using iPhones or windows mobile are SOL and have to use just simple Google Maps.
Sorry to pee on your parade Rand but I'm very disappointed with your unit and basically using it as a VERY overpriced truck stop book. That's the only feature that excells on this overall almost unusable unit. (in current stage of developement). If all the crucial features will be added and at least the most dangerous bugs will be resolved (like routing to a restricted road), I might give it a second chance.

This forum is here for support. Please watch your language or how what you write in your post as in your wording. If you like Google, then go forth and be happy, but understand it will not show you truck restrictions?
If you are not happy with your TND then by all means E-mail me and I will notify Rand for a refund if they can.
If you wish to compare other navigation devices, then post it in the other thread please.
Again, this is a support thread only for the Rand TND. Not a sounding board for your cell phone.
Thanks,
MarkGears Thanks this. -
He must have a different TND than mine...cuz my 700 hasn't steered me wrong in a month.
Any timeframe on when we'll be able to see full routing? I know it's an upcoming version...just curious as to how long. -
All, I have mentioned in more than one post. The mapping data is not 100% correct as to guiding you correctly on restricted roads, low bridges, or just plain oddball routing.
Rand does know their is bad data in the mapping database. They are working hard to correct the issues as they are found.
A lot of factors go into the mapping database and the road segments.
If you find something that is not correct, then send in a Tell Rand or post it here.
Determing the TND has dangerous bugs because it routed you on a restricted road is a very vague statement. If you can provide details, I most certainly pass it on to Rand and when they respond back to me I will post the details.
It could be a locally posted sign that even the State DOT does not know about. This happens with local governments a lot. They post restrictive signs around their town and it never makes it up the paperflow path to the State DOT and onto the mapping companies.
If you see a sign that says bridge 12'6" ahead and you see 3 signs stating such, but the TND does not give a warning, do not run into the bridge or overpass. Common sense prevails here.
Just because your tire shows 95 PSI today, does not mean it will show 95 PSI tomorrow. Things change.
Use common sense and remember, the TND is a tool along with everything else to make your job safer and easier.
Thanks,
