Well I don't know what to say about this one, except what were they thinking. I hope they think it was worth it.

Mississippi State Troopers Indicted for False Statements Related to Fraudulent CDLs

    May 18, 2010

    Summary

On May 18, in U.S. District Court, Jackson, Mississippi, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Joseph L. Rigby; Captain (Retired) Johnny D. Rawls; Lieutenant James C. Smith and Master Sergeant Darrell D. Walker, all of whom were Troopers assigned to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Driver Services were indicted on multiple counts of making false statements related to commercial driver's license (CDL).
This investigation was predicated as a result of a request for assistance from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) regarding allegations that State troopers had aided and abetted others in creating false CDL test scores to obtain CDLs, and operational enhancements, such as, HAZMAT and passenger endorsements, without going through the mandated state and Federal testing requirements. The troopers were also alleged to have aided and abetted others in altering CDL driver records to reduce speeding infractions to lesser charges and altered the guilty judicial dispositions of driver records to aid and abet others from receiving judgments in accordance with the State of Mississippi's due process of law. If convicted, the troopers are each subject to fines and a maximum of five years imprisonment.
Analysis of the Commercial Driver Licensing System and the National Driver Registry is ongoing to determine if additional alterations were made to driver records by other public service personnel and state troopers working for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. OIG is coordinating with the FMCSA Southern Service Center (SSC) to correct the driver records in an effort to mitigate any public safety concerns. This investigation is being conducted jointly with the FBI and MBI. The assistance garnered from the FMCSA SSC and their Headquarters has been instrumental to the progress of the investigation.

No problem. I would much rather have guys and gals doing it right, than have to deal with the problems on the side of the highway. Besides anyway to make the roads safer is what I am supposed to do, and if I can save you a few bucks from a ticket that's not that bad either. Plus, I know some folks have no idea who they share the road with. I just happended to find some dumb ones every now and then.

If only this would happen more often. I was with a very small outlaw company a few years ago. As long as my log looked right, it was fine. Well, not only did it look right, it was. The 3 loads I pulled for these guys, only one could be done legally. The other 2 were done legally, but they didn't like it. I left, no thanks!!:biggrin_25510:

BOO TO EOBR.....(youve seen my complaints about it)

And how does a company serve probation? Where do you put the tether? Around the door knob on the front door?

I ran for a company in the past that allowed drivers to "fix" logs.
I ran legal for them and they never said a word. I made pretty good money also.
Some other drivers in the company would run and run, then "Fix it" to make the log look legal. The company would never say anything to them either.
It was all on the driver. They would allow you to run however you wanted as long as the book looked good.
I had a chance to go back to them but did not. Main reason for not going back was that I was concerned about their CSA2010 score. They have run under the radar on the current system, but will not do so with the new.
The main reason for this is that some of the drivers just are not good at coloring when on the road. Thus they get violations when they are inspected. Maine looks at them really close and so does New York. And they have some really good contracts running those areas.
i was inspected 3 times in less than a year in those 2 states. Passed every time. Some of the others were not so lucky. Now they have a driver SEA score on safestat that is very high. Though the equipment score is very low. Thus they slide past.

The company was good though in that they would never push a driver to run illegal. Just some of the drivers liked to do so, just to make more loads that week. I hope they survive and clean out the bad drivers. The owners are a really good family, and I would like to eventually work with them again.
