Just found out a few minutes ago, that if i lease a truck, and stay running Great Lakes Regional (GLR), i'll get paid 65% of the load. Only downside, as i was told, was I dont get paid till Swift gets paid. So there can be a delay in pay when compared to getting a settlement check every monday. Also, i'd get NO PAY for MT mileage...which honestly kinda blows. But i'd make up SOME of that with better MPGs, but still there is no income for the MT miles.

what are your thoughts? If i went to run all 48....well, all '40' cause i'd refuse to go into NY and points north along with the west coast (unless it was loads to Fresno or something like that)...i'd get paid for both loaded and MT. But seeing how i dont know what the load is actually paying Swift, i'm taking their word for it that i'm getting my full 65% of the load. Just another avenue that they could take advantage of to hose me.

    so...anyone? anyone? Bueller?

Sounds like another way to screw ya. Stay a company driver and be unhappy that way, rather than unhappy with a huge lease payment to make.

sounds like a good way to end up poor--glakes area isnt the highest paying---and some thing tells me swift does take some cheao frieght--so 65% of nothing--is still nothing
why not go on mileage and do 48?

typical responce, mr.g, from Swift-haters. As far as your statement, truck, i said i planned on staying on GLR for a few weeks to see how the miles went. Forget i knew the rate paid different, but from all the drivers leasing a truck, they've all said their miles seem to go up from being a company driver.

and the truck is a 2010 KW T660, with 135k miles. and the lease is for 2 yrs. So for the entire two yrs, the truck will be under warranty. =)

I don't know nothing about Swift.... But I can tell you that 65% is a low amount to be paid.

RUN AWAY DICK RUN AWAY! I'm getting 75% from a carrier. I get paid within 48 hours of load delivery.

So would you rather get paid 0.90 per mile? Or would you rather have a percentage of $2.00 a mile? 65% of $2.00 is $1.30 a mile. But I still wouldn't work for 65%. And with Swift, they all a lot of low paying freight from what I've been told.

I think you should seriously research & ask many many many questions before you sign a lease purchase agreement with any company. Otherwise you will be posting a bash Swift thread within a year. I sent you a PM with more info.

Whats wrong with NY or the other NE states? Or the West Coast? I find freight pays better up in the NE because people with just a couple years experience hears horror stories about the area & refuses to go...

Back to mileage pay! You won't gain anything. In fact, you'll probably lose more that way.

Just as I said before. Investigate a hell of a lot more & educate yourself before signing anything.

If you investigate more you may learn that there is a law that states that the carrier your leased to must show you the freight invoices upon your request.

65% is too close to 50%. I wouldn't work for close to half! Why do drivers think that figures such as these is a fair deal? So many of you are selling yourselves short!

where did i think it was 'fair'. didn't i ask for input? wasnt i asking about it? think i even went as far as to say 'I DONT KNOW'.

guess the mods need to just close this thread before we even get more than a page of posts. pretty pathetic....most of you would rather bash bash bash, than to offer your 2 cents of advise.

well i did. spoke with another lease driver running GLR, and he says to run mileage, not percentage. says it really dont pay off unless i was running reefer costco dedicated, which i wont because i'm not a trainer. (nor do i forsee ever being a trainer)

not to mention i didnt like the idea of not getting paid for the MT miles...period.

the way it was worded to me, it sounded like GLR accounts were ONLY paid percentage. come to find out, they are not.

That's not bashing. There were no derogatory remarks or insults thrown towards anyone or anything. Calm down.
