then why bother editing your posts and coming back to read thing over and over? that is like the mental ill kid who bangs his head into a wall, and says "that hurts"...then does it again....only to say..."that hurts".
thought you all were better than me......in the last few posts i've been called 'stupid' and an 'idiot'. but call me all the names you want when you're safe behind a computer screen. -
Dick--
That $4-5K is not really relevant to the conversation. You could have that money invested in some other money making endeavor. If your business does not generate its own "rainy day" money, you are not getting paid for taking that risk, and should have remained a company driver.
It would seem you are living on the edge as your quote suggests. -
i have the cash to put down on a down payment....why should i, when they take it out weekly anyway. so thats going right into the maintence account. the first truck payment isnt coming out for 3 weeks....there is another $1500...not to mention the .08cpm i'm putting in since i started 10 days ago. by the time the truck payments start coming out, i'll have that in ready to go. And FYI...the truck will still generate its own flow into the account. by the end of the year, i should have another $10k into the account.
and if you dont take risks and play it safe, AND LIVE LIFE..... you end up a wal-mart door greeter. -
I would show you mine but it do no good. It shows nothing but the amount the truck made no miles, no fuel cost, no repair cost, no ins. cost nothing. The co. I am leased to has nothing to do with how the truck operates. That and the fact I have no idea how to get it on here and you still would not beleive it! -

OK you guys are going to get this thread locked up if you can't get your anger under management. I can cut the anxiety with a knife. Key words being written to get under each other skin to be hurtful and gotta have that last word only proves how much you care about what they think no matter how many times you say you could care less....Katz Thanks this. -
See, your a Swift hater like the rest of us. That is only because Swift is slowly taking your business away... Then ####### up the customer's freight so much that they give the freight contract back to you at twice the price of your original bid. Why is that? Because they know you'll get the job done with sincerity, dignity, loyalty, & professionality. -
Wow...it is easy to see how the other posters get tired of your attitude. If anyone questions your logic on anything you fly off the handle.
Again, whatever money you have for a down payment is not relevant. It is money you are bringing into your new business. If this money is going to be used you should be getting a return on this investment.
Do you not see how the numbers I posted add up to 1.05/mi before paying taxes? After taxes I would assume it would be more like 1.15/mi or equal to the rate you are being paid. Whatever is going into the maintenance account is for maintenance, and will probably be used for that. That is not providing you anything for the risk of owning a business.
I am fairly confident I will not end up as a Wal-Mart greeter. But if it is easier for you to throw out a statement like that than back up your flimsy business plan with logic...so be it.
I don't like L/P plans, and have taken any opportunity to speak against them. I have nothing to gain from this, but I hope I can make some people reconsider signing up. I have a huge amount of respect for truck drivers, and I hate to see them make decisions that get them into trouble. I have a father who taught me a lot about personal finance and who continues to teach me about running a business. Being a driver is a skill...operating a trucking business is another skill. The Challenger and DL550CAT Thank this. -
Interestingly enough, one of my brothers works for a hedge fund. Their specialty is investing in or betting against distressed companies. As such, he has been following Swift for quite some time. They exist on thin margins and huge volume. As such, drivers will face a similar program. Working for them will always leave you operating on a shoe string.
