This big huskie guy keeps walking over to my truck...he had grease all over his hands...and I jokingly told him not to get the truck dirty...

So what do you think this big husky country man did?
But of course, he proceeded to wipe his greasy hands on the hood of the truck, and walked over to my window...:biggrin_2555:

Is that like country backwood humor or something??

Well, because he was so big, I had to pretend it was funny...
Luckily, the grease on his hands didn't transfer to he truck...

Then I had to chat with him for like 15 minutes...he's 52, I think (cause he told me) and weighs about 280lbs or more..I think...

Big country old school type of guy...
Then he left...then he came back and saw me on the computer...and got noisy...

Him: Hey, what's that on your computer??

Me: Nothing (actually it was a photo of myself, very clad)..

Him: Ah, come on, what was that?!:biggrin_25510:

Me: Nothing, I'm doing my taxes...:biggrin_2557:

Then I moved computer to sleeper so he would stop inquirering about what he thought he saw...

If he comes back again...I will take a photo of him..[IMG].. and post it...

Why does this big husky man want to talk to me so bad??

And why does he want to look at my computer??
He's a trucker like me, I wonder if he knows about the legend I am??

I wonder if he's one of you??

Well If I post this, and he comes back over...then I know he is...so I'm going to send this and see what happens...

That husky guy was probably bored and just wanted some conversation. I sometimes lend my ear to complete strangers, but some people just go on and on and on and on and on, etc.

I've met a cool owner op who was contracted with Swift. He was a 25 year driver that had ALOT of advice for me (since I'm still young and just started driving 2 years ago). That guy went on and on and on.....

Yes, I think your right...thanks for bringing some 'reason' to my 'madness'...
Sometimes I tend to read more into situations than they actually are...

But I felt like his 'shrink' or something...
Guy starts telling me about his step dad, his health issues and other stuff...

The first time I walked past his truck, and asked him 'How long have you been backed in?'...he seemed quiet and mean...

Next thing I know he's over here sharing his life story with me...

But actually, I guess I don't mind...he's just a big nice jolly guy...

And then after that, some younger guy practically climbed in the window wanting to 'swap movies'...

Do people not understand about personal space...do they not understand that concept??

Half his body was through the window as he showed me his video...heck I felt like just pulling him all the way in and having tea...

Anyhow...all is good...thanks for bringing some prospective to the situation JimDriv3r

My trainer at Werner used to tell me this all of the time: After talking to a truck driver after 5 minutes, you will learn about his problems at home, how much money he makes, how long he's been a truck driver for; basically the entire life story about the guy. More information spoken that you would ever want to hear about.

I run into my share of random strangers occasionally: Mr. Bootleg DVD man that has an entire collection of newly released movies with god-awful video quality. They invite themselves to my doorstep and can't take no for an answer. Be wary of the hidden "black bag" videos....

Then there are the drivers that back into a space next to me where the windows are parallel to mine. Look to the left and someone is just staring down at me. Keep in mind that the parking lot is virtually empty. Weirdos!

Then there are times where after I park and set the brakes, there's someone down in the dumps that needs a few dollars to make it through the day. Usually I'll help out by buying the stranger food.

I used to have people bang on my door at weird hours of the morning. I just ignore it out of fear of getting shot, stabbed, or arrested. (The fading lizard dilemma).

Some drivers that I've noticed are super anti-social, but are then willing to open up. Sometimes, a simple reply from my "hello, how's it going" greeting seems like a teeth pulling contest.

Then there are the ones who won't shut up after 15 minutes, like their mouths were manufactured by Eaton-Fuller!

    -------*******----****-*-*-********-----------

Tea sounds nice, haha! That line made me chuckle. Maybe you and Mr. Husky should have had tea! (I joke)

Sequence of events after I left shipper...

    1. Was there for about 7 hours...
    2. Left wallet upstairs either in bathroom or atop vending machine..
    3. Went back to retrieve wallet...as I was climbing stairs, guy was coming down with wallet in his hand..and said 'Is this yours?'...

    4. Signed paper work, told guy who found wallet, and was in the process of turning it in, to 'wait there, I have something for you'...

    5. Went to truck, retrieved 3 brand new hats...total value about $27 dollars...Two of the hats were the back in style Dick Tracey looking ones...
    6. Handed hats to guy infront of his peers...and told him 'Thank you for doing the right thing'...

And he responded in some hip slang lingo that I didn't quite catch...but I think he meant 'thank you'...

    7. Left shipper, drove...tired but drove...and over weight, but have permit for that...pull up to scale, and the DOT scale officer thinks he's Zues....[IMG]...and before I get on scale, he's like 'STOP!' (Over the PA system, had the volume like turned up to 10)...

So I stop...and he comes out walking big...and beggins jabbing me with his lighting bolt, which is rhetorical for 'I just feel like picking on someone tonight'....

When it was all done and said...he was the 'man'....and I was the played, sissy punk, at his mercy...and only when that was acknowledged, was I able to go.

Once he got me, to recognize, that he was the 'Man'...and that he could destroy my evening, by writing me a ticket or fine, Once he was sure that I recognized that it was his 'mercy' on me...and his 'mercy' alone, that saved me, then and only then was he able to let me go, release me from his 'power' pull out a cigarette,..[IMG]and calm down...

I guess he felt he had to dominate someone that night...so why not me...
And not only that, but in some places, officers arent allowed to smoke while in uniform...but he didn't care, as the smoke from his cigarette drifted in my face...

    8. Drove a bit more...wore out and tired, pulled into rest area and crashed...(slang for 'went to sleep')...

And when I woke up, and what occured after words, I'll write about in next post...

Right now, I'm at home...(if you want to call it that), relaxed, and drinking a cold one...
    More to follow...

Ok, now here's what i really want to say...first thank you Jimdriv3r...for keeping me company last night on here...first and foremost thank you...

I'm not to proud to say I get lonely at times, and like having friends, whether in real life or cyber...

And Two...I only got about 3 hours sleep last night trying to get this load back to destination on time...

And three...when I got there, this dog gon Mugabi character security guard would not let me enter the premises...

Ok, this guy just doesn't like me...all he is is a rent a cop security guard...but he's from Africa...and he doesn't like me...well hll, I'm a racial minority also...but he still doesn't like me...
And would not allow me to enter premise without proper ID...

Well now you know what happened earlier in the week, on the previous page, that I had to call police for...someone stole my ID badge...and he, Mugabi, knows this...but he still chooses to ride me like a bus...

This dude, this security guard, is from Africa, and acts like he's some dictator...all he is is a security guard...

Well today I did not feel like his crap...so I just left...product and all...I said 'Fine, If you don't want such and suches trailer...fine...'

Turned around and left...now it's on him...
I get sick of dealing with power hungry imbasols....
I'm tired, been driving all night to get their product to them, just to have to face Mugabi, the security guard...and once again, someone who wanted to dominate me...us...truck drivers...

Mugabi the security guard doesn't have jurisdiction over me or my body, as much as he wishes he did, but he doesn't...so i left...and took all the product with me..and dropped it at yard...
I havnt time for this ego nonsense...

Now he can explain to this powerful freight company, why their load isn't inside the gate...it's out of my hands now...(yes I called dispatch and let them know, and yes, their making other arrangements)

Trucking can indeed be like a bad marriage...we truckers get stomped on daily...tooken advantage of, dominated by rent a cop security guards and so on...

Ok, this is us...we get stepped on by everyone...we're caught in the middle...we have to somehow make it all work...we have to please everybody in the shipping loop...regardless of rules, we're just expected to make it all work...all while walking around barefoot and pregnant...

We have to please DOT...we have to please and pleasure the shipper, the consignee, the stupid security guards, dispatch, our friends, our families, have to keep our trucks running...even our trucks demand from us...

We are amongst the most 'used' human beings on earth....and the least compensated for it...

I, may...run for political office...and put an end to this...or at least highlight our struggles...to late to run for Senate and all that...

But maybe...just maybe...we'll see....I mean if the 'Rent is to dm high' guy can get on the ballet...maybe I could also...just need to come up with a catchy slogan...
    Maybe 'No respect'...Rodney Dangerfields line...I don't know...

Anyways...thanks for reading this...I'm tired and wore out...I need some rest...later...

I enjoy reading this thread, and following along. I regret missing the conversation last night, maybe next time. I hope I get to join the ranks of "the most used individuals" any day now.... that is sad. But true.

And I love you for that...

That means a lot to me...we are a family...whether people want to admit it or not...

Ye, sure, some of us are 'odd balls'..[IMG]..but we're still a family...

And we have to look out for each other...

It's a very abusive enviornment out here...everyones gunning for us...whether old young, black white, rich or poor...if you drive a truck and haul freight, their gunning for you, us...so why not get along and unite...

I share, cause i care...and I don't want anyone out there to feel 'alone'...cause your not...

Your valued and cared for...never forget that...your loved, valued and cared for....

And by sharing my experiences, what I go through, I just want others to know their not alone...that's all, nothing more, nothing less...your not alone...

And now...I'm going to leave you with a song...'The Conversation'...cause in your opening post or written words...you said 'I regret missing the conversation last night'...

And that reminds me of a song titled 'The conversation'...by two of Americas most wonderful song artist I can think of...

    This song's for you Rocky64...love ya...[IMG]

Hey ghostchild, don't mention it. Whenever someone calls me to ask me how I'm doing, the reply is always the same: "I'm bored." I use the word "bored" as a replacement for the word "lonely". While I love this occupation as an over-the-road truck driver to death, loneliness has become a constant companion that won't go away. I guess that many of us are in the same boat.

I have more to say, but I was just given the green light at my dock. Until next time! (Hopefully I can make it to northern TX before my hours run out. Later everyone!

I'm so glad you chimed in...I use to love driving out through Texas...

My friend...I see so much beauty in this...
When i use to drive out there...I would park my truck at a rest area or Picnic area...and I would explore, on foot, the ravenes, the caverns...I would treck off into the desert...with my pet dog...(which I no longer have)...but boy did we do some exploring...

I like Texas, cause as a driver...parking is never an issue...expecially once you get West of San Antonio...on I-10...

There were places in that state that I would drive, where I literally felt like i was the only one left on the planet earth...

I always wanted to get a ranch out there somewhere...in the Western part of the state...

What if a bunch of us put our resorces together and purchased a 50 acre ranch...[IMG]....how cool would that be...?

Be safe out there my friend...and remember, your not alone...

    We are all with you...
