That's the key my friend! You really want to try to time your coming home with the freight. As you get more experience you will learn when and where the freight is. For instance, right now until Xmas freight will be running strong. Put in as much time as you possible can. Stay out and run hard! The day after Xmas is when the freight is going to come to a halt until mid February. All the experienced drivers use this time for home time and vacation. This way they are not wasting their time out on the road when the freight isn't running strong. While the freight is flowing you want to be there grabbing everything you can!

That's flat BS. If you did not get miles to get that nice pay the 14, then your 7 is a waste and you work that off with crappy 14 the second time.

Even if you had the full 7 off, consider the day and half spent getting there, half a day to sleep it off and then maybe 4th day into the sometime Dispatch is calling for a 1200 mile run due the following monday causing you to leave two days early. And that begins with a load lumping onto the floor and live unload at the other end.

In short: Lesson; STAYING HOME COST YOU MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE.

Stay out a while. Make some money. As in say 9 months a year, stay home the other three during winter and holidays laying on stacks of cash you built all year.

If you get 2500 miles a week you would get 85,800 miles a year. At .40 a mile which would be on the high end starting at a mega that would give you a little over $34k if you managed to keep that average and they pay that much.

Not sure about that fleet but they share a truck with another driver. The guy I know who does the 7/7 fleet if the other person quits or needs to stay home linger he has to keep the truck moving. From the sounds of it he runs his tail off the entire time. I currently work at Roehl and I can tell you that the miles are definitely here. I ran 3,400 miles this past week and I'm consistently at 3,000 miles or more every single week. It's not hard to get miles here if you just do your job
