. How dare them...
I've heard of some guys going 100k on an oil change, but don't know what filters they had. I was thinking it was the Gulf Coast one but not sure.
I'd like to talk to someone who has one of those on their trucks. Some of the things I heard just didn't make any sense to me. -
You can do the extended drains with a good filter that gets the combustion by-products out of the oil. However you need to be doing some oil analysis to make sure that you aren't building up other crud in the oil, and that the protection package that's in the oil doesn't get depleted.
If the oil is clean at the prescribed change interval, why throw it out? Except to make Exxon-Mobile or Shell some more money, eh? -
Recently had the 'oil changed' which I don't believe they changed it due to its pure black appearance but the oil filter which had a big dent in it from the last oil change had been changed out.

Here is an update for ya....
dropped the truck off at the Kenworth in Cedar Rapids, IA. They tell me that the starter wont be under warranty, because after looking at it, the starter solenoid was 'beat on', and that if they tried to claim it under warranty, the company would reject it and send me a bill. The mechanic says it has a 'more expensive' Mitsubishi starter on it (runs $500) than the normal MHC starter which runs $150. I asked if the cheaper starter can be put on...and it can.
So since Swift told the guys at the KW shop "the bill is on him since he is an O/O", then illl pay for the repair, and send the bill to the guys who did the first service call on the truck when i sat at the Costco in Indianapolis, and the guy came out and said he tapped on the starter to 'free it'. the 'taps' werent probably taps at all. So this is getting passed on to them...or Swift will be reimbursing me......or they get the truck back. total bill will be about $500. and this is the last time i take my truck to the KW dealership in cedar rapids...... -
Ah the joys of being on the paying end of repairs. Today it is very hard ( if running OTR ) to get a decent shop and build a good repore with them.
