Hey folks!
I just graduated from C-1 Indy and am set up for orientation with USA on the 27th of this month. C-1 went great, good instructors and good people in general.
The only thing I found disturbing was that people kept getting dropped by their carriers all the way up into the 3rd week of training with little or no explanation. Other than that I had a great experience. The instructors taught us how to pass the state test and get our CDL-A just like they said they would. Some of us passed on the first attempt and some didn't.
Here are my questions...
When I go to my orientation, am I still in danger of being sent home without a job for some unknown reason??? People were getting dropped all the way into the 3rd week of C-1 so this has me a bit nervous... This concern aside I am very excited and anxious to get out there and actually start learning the job. Did folks get booted out of orientation when you all went through it??? And if so, why?
Thanks for any replies!

You are not guaranteed a job until the last day when you get your driver code.

Thanks for the reply. Do you work for USA right now??? I don't have anything at all on my background, It just seemed odd that the background checks were taking so long.

I thought that stuff was all screened during C-1 training. That is why folks kept getting dropped then...

I went thru C1 in Ft. Worth in Feb. 09, then to USA Truck in Van Buren. There were about 50 people there for orientation. One got sent home for failing the drug screen, a few were sent back to Indy for more training. They could not pass the driving course test. They will recheck all the background stuff again and go over it with you in the interview. Like everyone says, be truthful and listen and you will be fine. Good luck.

Thanks motofish.... I am looking forward to going to my orientation. What is the driving test like? Did the guys who got sent back to Indy lose their spot with USA or did they get to come back later?
Thanks for your reply. -
On monday they will start tahing people in I believe it was groups of four to learn there way of backing. They just show you a way to set up, and then back it in between two trailers. Dont sweat it, its a good way to do it and theres plenty of room. Make sure you get out and look or your gone. Each person does that and then you go over to the obstacle course. Listen to the instructor and pay attention and you will have on problems. Its tight, but kinda fun. But some guys didnt get it and got sent back to Indy for a week. Thats it. You dont do the road test till you come in with your trainer. I guess the guys that went to Indy got to come back, never saw them again.

Thanks for the heads up... My mind is a lot more at ease now.
