I worked for Knight in 2007 and they were pretty dam good company. I left because of an illness in my family but am thinking of going back. I got a fair pay check and everyone was decent.
Every day an adventure, every meal a feast! Knight Transportation!

Okay hotshot, let us know how its going after the "honeymoon" is over.
-
Its a honeymoon for the dispatchers and DMs too. They soon figure out who does the best job, always on time, good attitude etc. The good drivers keep the good miles and home time, the bad ones don't. I've dispatched and been a DM, Why should I deal with A-Hole drivers when I don't have to? So I didn't, respect is earned. I made sure the professionals kept moving.
-
Well I can honestly say not many share your views. Knight strictly forbids the playing of favorites too the point of termination to DM's playing that one. Believe me I tried. I did my job and I did it well and still couldn't get more than 400 miles a day tops. If your content with 400 miles a day then you should not be spending your life on the road, you should be home every night. Knight believes everyone should suffer equally.
I was lied too to many times to count, had to ask several times to get reimbursed for money I earned and that's just the tip of the ice burg. Knight specializes in cheap junk freight and the idiot customers that come with cheap junk freight. I had my trucks come out of PM's non-dot compliant despite being written up by me....CORDS IN THE TIRES! Knight will can you on the spot if a cord shows on your tires. But not me, I guess I was well liked. My safety guy STOOD behind me on that one and the idiot shop person responsible was removed from that position. The Wal-Mart gift card at Christmas was appreciated but overall Knight was the worst running company inside and outside trucking I have ever worked for.
Oh yea and the terminals being over-run with "slightly used" for trade trailers while drivers have loads to be picked up but no trailers. What moron is responsible for that. Good luck with whole Knight thing..... -
hehehehe,no he didn't.
-
Not always the case! Depends on the company.

Now, I'm no accountant or even a math whiz....but let's figger this out chere...
1200 per week, take home, claiming zero. Base that on 3k miles per week. That translates to you making AT LEAST .50 a mile or more, even if you toss in the extras like extra stops, detention, holiday pay, accounting errors, and inside help.
Methinks we have a professional leg-puller here....truckerdave1970 Thanks this. -
You took the words right out of my mouth! "HONEYMOON"!
Toxic, that is great! You are going to have to give it a little longer then that. They always give the newbies a lot of miles in the beginning to see what they can do and to pay for what they have lost on your truck that has been sitting in the yard since the last driver drove it.
Not knocking you though, you are doing a good job. Try bumpin it up a notch. You should be able to do 3800-4200 if you are pre planning your trips right. If you can do that for a year then you will make a fine owner operator.
