I never once put two and two together and realized that! Miami Vice soundtracks we're all great IMO. I guess I was never in the mood to hear music when I called in to Knight...wheredmymoneyatbitch!

Ha! I never realized, either! That melody is etched in my mind, though, LOL!

This random thread will only appeal to those whoever worked for Knight, had to call the company for whatever reason while over the road, and had to wait on hold forever while listening to that same music loop over and over and over.....etc. The waits on the phone were even more horrendous whenever the evening dispatch crew assumed the night shift. That tune will be stuck in my head for awhile.

Yes, but remember what it was like before cell phones, when there were a couple dozen drivers crammed into a 15 by 15 foot "phone room", with only 4 phones? And the wait time was much longer than today? And when you finally did get through to dispatch, were told, "Nothing right now, call back in an hour." ?
Whatever else has changed for the worse, THAT is certainly better than it used to be, IMHO, anyway. -
1-800 numbers and road maps....that's all I need! I used to hear the stories from other drivers about how things were different over the road with the absence of today's technology. No cellphones, qualcomm computers, satellites, load planners, etc. Just a couple of hands manning a chalkboard with various truck and load info written in, and a trustworthy relationship with most of the workers and the truck company owners.
Nowadays if your cellphone or qualcomm loses it's signal folks back at the office start freaking out.Dna Mach Thanks this. -
#### it.......pick up the phone!
JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
You know what really sucks is when you call and are stuck on hold forever, someone picks up the phone AND HANGS UP ON YOU!!! Because they are "too busy" to talk to you.
JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
You drivers are lucky the company doesn't make you use your own credit card and call a 1-900 number and bill you $5.00 a minute to chat with dispatch! (I wonder why they haven't thought of this yet?)JimDriv3r Thanks this.

That happened to me for a while. Then I just stopped answering the phone and let the calls go straight to voicemail since everyone was too busy. If the message was important it usually came across the qualcomm. Most of the time the purpose of the calls was to sweet-talk drivers into doing something stupid or illegal with the promise of a "better load".Dna Mach Thanks this.
