Yes, we are, thank you. You definitely touched both Tom's and my heart with the message you left on Tom's cell phone yesterday. You have a special way of touching others, Sonny. I believe you make God smile. I won't tell anyone that you're a sweetheart of a guy......it'll be our secret, okay? :biggrin_25525:

Rug Truckers bad luck is rubbing off on me. Went to pick up a pre loaded trailer earlier this week. At first I thought it strange that the dispatch information offered no identifying numbers such as a PO number or BOL. Didn't even give me a number for the trailer I was picking up. But that didn't seem to bother the shipper. He knew what I was there for and provided me with my papers and told me what trailer to get.

My first problem came when trying to do my loaded call. I get a message that the trailer with my load is pre loaded on a different trip number. After confirming with the shipping office that I did in fact have the correct trailer and load, I had to wait for an hour while the csr's figured out what is going on.

It was while waiting for this that my big problem appeared. I pulled the trailer away from the dock and did the inspection on it and found that not only was it missing a mudflap on the passenger side, it was missing the bracket and all. So I send in the Mac 55 and wait on that also.

Finally got the go ahead for the trailer, but was still waiting to hear back from on-road. Rug might not agree with this, but I decided to drive 5 miles to the T/A just up the hiway to get the mudflap fixed, then called on-road myself. On-road asked why I just didn't take it to the Gary terminal 15 miles away, to which I replied that was too far to go with such an obvious violation, and I didn't think the shop could get to me right away. The terminal shops aren't exactly known for prompt, quick service after all. I did get it fixed at the T/A, no thanks to that lazy don't give a crap bum who left the trailer there.

I had a tire with a screw in it yesterday during tire check, did the onroad thing. Tire's not leaking, take it to TA 10 miles down the road. OK. Sat for a couple of hours in the nasty cigarette smoke filled driver's lounge then went to check on status. Well the screw was in the deep part of the tread, no danger of blowing the tire but they did remove it. Oh and the valvestem was leaking so they replaced it for $48. Yeah right it was leaking lol. They couldn't let it go with just a $2 fix.

This sounds like a fair way to keep the careless people from wasting the people who care time and aggrivation. If your like me you can't just ignore these type of problems because it bugs ya like a pet peeve. You know how your luck is. You will be the one something bad will happen to or be blamed for not taking care of the equip. A fine would make people think and some of that money going to the driver who is stuck w/ the junk would soften the blow. Good Idea E.Eye:biggrin_25514:

its a good idea until it gets abused by the idiot who claims every trailer that he gets has a light out and he wants to get paid for it--

I got one today with the passenger side top clearance light not working. I drove 50mi to the TA in Montgomery AL. I messaged onroad and got tired of waiting. They called me as I was pulling in to fuel. That corner was bashed to Hell. It had a large halfassed patch and lots of foil trailer tape on it. Top puckered out. The light had been relocated to the front. I couldn't be viewed from the side.

After waiting 3 1/2 hrs they got to it. Turns out someone mounted a new light fixture. Never ran the wire! No plug in! I had the tech relocate it to the side so it can be seen. The trailer was preloaded with Chep pallets. Only a 151 mil run to Birmingham. Then I have a 556mi. relocation order to Columbus OH. Yep, dead head! The patch job on this junker leaks in that hole. :biggrin_25525:

Let me impart a little wisdom about screws and nails. Wipe some spit on them and wiggle them around. If it bubbles leave it in and get it repaired. (maybe keep a plug kit) If it doesn't bubble pull it. My mentor and a Swift "mechanic" were going to swap to a used tire over a frikken scew. I pulled it and no leak! The obvious was too easy.

BTW pull the screw in that pic and roll with it!
