Extra weight and extra expense....But a good idea on its face....However...If it's a flat tarp load.....I guess based on some here....it's best that the driver "Man up" and take the chance of breaking their neck....

GUYS COME ON, DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO CARRY A TWENTY FOOT EXTENSION LADDER WITH YOU FOR SUCH EVENTS. Just store it ontop of the trailer, there is plenty of room up there for it. Wait a minute, crap I just used trooper intelegence, and it hurt. You figure out how to get it down to use it OK.

Well perhaps if you drive team....Your co-driver can ride on the roof of the trailer with a broom........Just be sure to have him log it on line 4.....:biggrin_25523:

Sure did, since the "14 years driving?" troll reply. Surely one of you "member since > mine" will set up a trailer top snow removal machine and have it all figured out with all that magical power you possess. I have never broke an airline simulating a bump in the road by doing a slow roll brake check then roll again motion ever, its just something that works well for me with fresh snow on top of a trailer that I have done in the past.

As for a trailer-scraper at a truck stop or anywhere else, you could have a grated area to drive over underneath the scraper, the snow would fall in and run off by use of a drain setup. But this would have a cost that would be passed onto the drivers. Then again you could always buy a heat lamp, run it off your inverter, attach it to 14' pole and stand outside in the snow and ice and never mind........ ya'll be safe.

Why not use one of those 'miracle gutter cleaners' hooked up to the air line? Sure you'd need to have 60' of air line and it wouldn't do diddly for the ice up there but at least the loose snow would be gone. Or get one of those 'little giant' ladders (don't know how you'd brace it with all the snow/ice on the ground though).

You have proof of your accusation?.....Your numbers might be a little off...On the low side....:biggrin_25523:

BTW...Do you climb on top of your trailer to clear snow and ice off?

I don't think anyone with any sense at all is saying you've got to climb up on top of your trailer to clean off the snow/ice. Again common sense comes in here which some don't have. You make all the reasonable attempts and then you go if you choose to. Crawling up on top of a box trailer is NOT reasonable. Hell, my company doesn't want us up there in good conditions and that's with a tanker that has a ladder mounted so you can get to the domes.

If there's a place that has snow removal for trucks and you just blow by then you can expect to be in a world of hurt if something happens. Plus I think you'll see more and more places pop up that you can use and be 100% safe. I wouldn't even be surprised if you'll be able to pull around back at the scales to remove what's up there at no cost. They'll have to do something when the courts get way backed up for a law that has no common sense. It just takes time.
