Some of you may recall that when DickJones first got his lease truck there were some problems right away with the batteries and starter or something.
Check it, I just signed for my pretty lease truck a couple days ago and got my very first load (yay). Well after just a couple hours of driving the check engine light comes on. OK that's what my partner's truck was doing too so I just kept a close eye on all gauges and kept going. Got to my fuel stop at the end of my day (of course comdata card did not work because someone didn't turn it on) wow my first $400 worth of fuel I'm gonna cry lol-- anyway go park for my 10 and the little regen light goes off indicating needs to regen or blow up so I initiate a parked regen. A few minutes later massive clouds of smoke are billowing out of the engine now so I go look, it's the exhaust pipe connect coming out of the turbo.
So anyway, have a guy coming to fix that all up. I'm starting to see why no one else wanted this truck lol and why the previous guy allowed it to be repoed. He was so deep he couldn't afford to get if fixed.
The DPF was supposedly cleaned out or replaced according to the maintenance records I looked at in the shop Oh well, first 30 days out here all the fixes are on Swift, I will be making sure to get it all taken care of.

You didn't to that complete of a job doing an inspection before signing the paperwork. First thing i did was pop the hood pull and twist anything that is connected to see if it fell off in my hand.
and the 2nd thing i did was MAKE SURE my fuel card worked before i left the terminal. I went over to the fuel island and pumped in 100 gal of fresh fuel. who knows how long that 1/4 tank has been sitting there.
yeah..and your fuel bill at the pump will just be going up and up and up. Just make sure you dont run any faster than 64 or so, and you should do half way diecent on mileage. 7.5 is good, anything above that is great. 6.5 is average...and anything below sucks.
if you can average 1 mpg better mileage, over the course of hte year, it'll save you close to $8k in fuel...thats $8k in your pocket...
dont be a billy big rig and think just because your truck will do 68 (72 off the throttle going down hill) you've gotta do it. But take a week, and pass as many trucks as you can. its fun watching CRST or FedEx trucks (who'd blow by you in a company truck) see your truck and not think anything much of it......THEN they'll see your wagon, and then they'll step on it to try to hang you out to dry in the hammer lane. HAHAHAHA....i jjust smile and waive as i go by. =)
MinuteMaidGuy, Tapeworm and scottied67 Thank this. -
I'm confued about the fuel card. You were second seat to an owner op and should have already had an O/O fuel card.

Yes I had the O/O comdata card, but they turned it off when I was cleared off the L/O's truck. I told the recruiter the number so they could activate it. I was doing a 2 pronged approach to things-- applying to come back to Swift as a company driver and talking to recruiting about leasing a truck. Things are really fouled up now. I have a company code active, my O/O code is inactive however Phoenix says I am 100% good to roll out here with their freight. The truck had 5/8ths fuel in it when I got it so that was like cha-ching baby. Rolling 8.2 miles per gallon yay. Mo money.
In other news, they don't offer a free full tank of fuel as reported by someone and there are no longer "payment holidays" that they were running last year.MinuteMaidGuy Thanks this. -
