Is going local as a newbie a mistake?

I got in a hurry like a dummy trying to make my load time and didn't check to make sure there wasn't a gap and that my jaws had fully closed. It was my own ####### fault, I thought hmm it made it all day it must be good then I took a tight left turn and there went my trailer. I needed it though to teach me a lesson cuz for some reason I only learn the hard way. Hopefully others will read this and remember how important a good pre-trip, enroute, and post trip inspection is. I'm just glad I was only going about 10mph and nobody got hurt.

So instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd keep going here. So I finally got out on my own on Thursday and so far it's been a rough start. My first day out on my own I loaded 6,000 pounds too light due to a miscalculation on my part. Oh well first time jitters, then once I get to the receivers they don't come unlock the valve for at least an hour. Rough first day but I thought oh well the next day will be better. So after I finish my reset I go back to day and jump right back on the horse. Day starts off rough cuz one of the other drivers backed the trailer all the way up so the rear axle was in the ditch. I finally get it out and head down the road. Everythings going smooth until all of the sudden my air pressure start dropping quick. I throw on my 4 ways and pull into a rest area and what ya know air's pouring out of a line on my trailer. I get out, grab my tools and fix it, then a fuse goes out in my truck at the shippers so I have to stop and fix that too. I figure wow the day couldn't get any worse. I get loaded, get to the receiver and off load. Everythings finally going good when I hear this loud boom from behind my truck. Look in my mirror and what ya know my trailer fell off. So I'm stopped in the middle of a busy road beating on my fifth wheel until I get that fixed and hook back up to the trailer. Okay it's official the day is the worse day ever, Nope wrong again I stop to get fuel for the next day and my fuel card gets denied, I call up my dispatcher and he says well that sucks but it's not my problem and hangs up. By this time I'm ready to tell him to take this truck and shove it straight up where the sun doesn't shine. Anyways thought I'd get on here and vent. Sorry its so long but #### what a day.

Maybe that is why they need new drivers, experienced drivers won't work for them, due to the problems you are finding. Just throwing out one thought...

Hopefully all these problems happening so close together is just a coincidence and your future days will be better and more smooth sailing.

Oxygen isn't flammable. It's an oxidizer. You can have oxygen spewing all over the place and walk around sparking your cigarette lighter all day long and nothing would happen. Unless you have a serious fire already going, there will be basically no effect.

Really,soak a flannel shirt in LOX and hit it with a match..
It will vaporize it before you can blink...
Most of the cryogenic companies show that training video..

Oxygen is an accelerant. The flannel burns, the oxygen makes it burn crazy big!!

Like the title says I'm a newbie. I have a job offer pulling around oxygen tankers and was just curious if weather or not starting off local is a mistake for a newbie or would you jump on the opportunity?

Get some practical experience and then if you want to get out on the road...you will have a resume and probably have some driving contacts by then....Lots of road drivers try to get back local to be home.... I was one...good luck either way.....
