I noticed that "most" not all truckers but most are for themselves about a year back. I was running teams at the time, when my co driver pulled to a shoulder to piss. Make a long story short the shoulder was a soft shoulder and the trailers tires sank into the mud, trailer dam near tipped. I didn't want to call the company so I got onto the radio, I must have asked hundreds of trucks that I seen in the distance coming toward me on my side of the high way for help to no prevail. I than got smart and said over the radio "anyone that can help me with a quick pull I have one hundred dollars for them". Mind you I had been on the radio at that point for hours watching trucks wiz by, within five minutes of me mentioning money, I had two trucks lined behind my trailer. I went back to talk with the two men, one asked whats the problem, I explained to the both of them. One of them said so you got a hundred after explaining my situation. I noticed the other not saying much giving the other a dirty look. I replied "no only seventy," this guy walked off back to his truck and pulled off. The other guy now he was a blessing. He didn't say much but what he did say "man I don't need anything, lets try and get this thing here free," sure did make me happy. He got some chains off his flat bed trailer, pulled in front of me and we hooked up one little pull I was out. I pulled out that seventy dollars and went to give it to him he refused and only would take twenty his reply "this should be good for a pack of cigs and a shower god bless you man be safe" and he was gone up the road. How many time do guys pass an individual broke down on the side of the high way and ask "driver you all right" just to switch lanes and wiz right pass the individual broke down. Whats the point of asking if they are all right? Just switch your lane and continue on.

If they were to respond when I do that....I'll jump off at the next ramp....come back and give them a hand.......lucky for me I don't have a quallcom or an EOBR...so I can do that. Most guys sitting on the side don't even have their #### radio on half the time anyway

Most company drivers would probably get roasted for helping pull someone like that. Especially drivers with the larger companies.

now i understand it makes sense. Company would ask why you turned around cause they can map your position, I also see the liability issue there also thank for your response.

over the years I've helped a dozen trucks get their mule outta the ditch so to speak... diesel n my cab sloshing into my floor from 2-10 gal buckets of fuel for someone... ruined clothes w/ grease helping peps... I could
go on n on... good peps r still out here pal... and I've never took more than a sandwich n coke for it from a drivers fridge, even then we sat n cooled off together n enjoyed lunch... So keep ur good spirits alive aight n I will too, then our carma will see us thru... don't worry about those others that won't n can't...

I would of helped you in a heartbeat for $0. But if the trailer was leaning like you said, I would of been a little leary if it was like you said. If she flipped, everyone involved would of been fired.

On the other note, the side of the interstate is not a bathroom. Not only what happened, but you're a hazard sitting there and you're definately a hazard pulling out. You could at least hit an exit ramp away from traffic.

Yeah I hear that, though it was my co driver i woke up as i did mostly when the truck stops. Though there was no fuel island or trucks parked around us, so i figured somethings wrong got up and looked to see our truck tilting.
