This might be a stupid question but I have to ask. Why would anyone like a super single tire on anything? Is there a major advantage that I am missing?

The trailer I'm pulling now had super singles on it when we first bought it got rid of em right off the bat I personally don't care for em, I guess they are ok to use on a tag axle but that would be as far as I would want to go.

It was a company truck, I'll drive whatever they give me within reason.
They are supposed to save on fuel, and I think they're lighter than a conventional dual. I noticed no real difference as far as anything went. But I never blew one, you do that you're down where ya are. I don't like that idea.:biggrin_255:

I work at Buesing Bulk Transport out of Hudson, Wi and we are a dry bulk/liquid carrier. What I was told is that a super single tire can carry more weight than a conventional pair of tires. Personally I'm not a fan of them in bad weather, but having the experience of driven Camaros for a number of years does help.

on the bright side, when you're chaining up you don't have any triple to put on. they are suppsed to be lighter, with significantly lower rolling resistance. running in snow or rain it does seem like from the middle of the tread to the edge where snow/water can evacuate the tread is a long way. how do they do for hydroplaning

I know a guy who has them on his truck, he runs for us express and he says he loves them, guess they ride nice or something. But the down side is you need a wrecker to change the tire.

With duals you can limp to safety in case of a tire failure. Singles you sit where the tire blew. I've never had a tire changed on the shoulder and don't plan on it.
