The breakdown hotline mechanic tried to tell me it was a stuck sensor too and he offered it might be brake pixie dust fouling the sensor as well-- told me to just pop the little bulb out and be on my way. I know a driver has to make money but a light not working like that is 18 CSA points right off the bat. Not to mention you already said the trailer feels funny when you apply your brakes-- obviously an ABS problem. Is it a safety issue? Probably not, millions of trailers got around the USA just fine without ABS for a long time. You just don't see black rubber streaks 50 feet long on the roads any more due to ABS out there.

Speaking of being issued citations, ooops I got one today for a lane change. Driving east on I-10 sun right in my eyes, in the right hand lane I see I'm coming up to a junction split off but can't tell if I'm in the correct lanes for I-10 east. At the last moment I saw that the 3 left lanes were for I-10 and quickly applied left turn signal and crossed that solid white line boom got lit up and pulled over. No CSA inspection, just wanted to see my DL, Med Card, Insurance, Registration, and today's log. He says I should have stayed where I was and followed it around as it has an option to dump back onto I-10 E/W. He's right and I knew better than that. So I went into Phoenix and dropped off a copy of the citation and scanned some trips/logs etc that place is WOW.

Please do tell, how is it going with your lease? Are you making money being in the lease and are they giving you miles? I'm thinking after a while with swift I may consider their lease program. Thanks!

Before you consider a lease, school yourself in running a business, how IFTA works, what the advantages of fueling in one state vs. another are, how to figure out the real cost per gallon of diesel, short routing vs. fast routing, whether volume or money savings would be better for you....and more stuff I just can't think of right now because I'm tired.

I would start a thread on the subject, but I just don't feel like stirring up the neighborhood.

i had an excellent "mentor" with swift and we are now very good friends. We hit it off from the start. He being a marine and me just getting out of the army made it even better and easier.I had training and some experience before swift but was recalled to duty and was back in the sandbox for awhile.then when i came back home i decided to go out again and i chose swift.now my experience with swift wasn't the greatest(as in anywhere else)but my now friend and mentor was great.he spent a lot of home time while with me because of V.A. visits(not a problem/he was injured in iraq)but he and his family and his friends welcomed me into their homes with open arms and i have made a lot of new friends in them. The first time behind the wheel of his truck after the time off in the sands felt good.He loved my driving and we ran hard. The man even bought me a new and modified cb for passing the upgrade.Hell he bought me meals and i bought him meals and so forth. We ran across several "mentors" that were in it for money and treated their students like crap.We usually told them off about it and a few cases even reported them on the spot and they were dismissed as mentors.1 was even fired. Now when i got my own truck(major undertaking there and another story)i had a bad dm and i did my best to deal with it.I ran across 2 different students left by their trainers after they called and reported problems with their trainers.I offered to give them rides on both occasions to nearest terminals and i was told not to stick my nose into business that didn't obtain to me and was also threatened to be fired. All i wanted to do was help.I felt like crap telling this woman and the young guy that i couldn't help them and had to leave them. The young guy was broke so i bought him a meal and gave him a little money to hold him till someone came for him and the woman quit on the spot and got a church to come by and help her get home.I even know of a mentor that was fired after her student called and reported her for drinking a beer in the hotel room to "celebrate" her students upcoming upgrade the next day.the student reported it and she was fired.I warned her to not drink unless on home time but apparently she didn't listen. My point is that there are good mentors and there are bad ones and what this idiot did to his student is uncalled for.He is supposed to by swift policy put him in a hotel/motel during his home time.I wish you the best of luck bud and hope you made it

Happy you got a good mentor. I done forgot about mine even removed his number from my phone.

So how's everyone doing? Hope you all are making tons of money and enjoying your ride. I have not been able to really post because after my 34 I had to gun it! I made it here ontime and was suppose to pick up a load going from St. George Utah to LA for tomorrow night at midnight. The only problem is it don't load until almost 12 in the afternoon.

So I said what the heck and accepted it because this would really be my best week if I can run this and then turn around and get one more 500 or less by Wednesday in. Dunno if I can do it the odds of this happening are now slim since Wallyworld did not have an empty.

My plan is to go back to Wallyworld in the AM and steal an empty. The cute girls at the security hut said come on back so hey when a cute girl wants me to come back I will be there. maybe she can ride on out to LA with me as well? :yes2557:

Anyways here at Swift I found out that you may have a plan of attack but as soon as you put that into affect the qualcomm goes off and ruins everything so we will wait and see whats up in the AM

So the fiasco with the very nice people of the state of Oregon at the coops has been resolved. The trailer sidemarkers where working fine and so was everything else so why did I even fail the DOT level 2 inspection?

Om my truck if you have the truck idling and then it shuts it's self down and you have the lights on it turns off the lights and the sidemarkers and tail lights on the truck and trailer. I don't know if it is suppose to do this but it does every time.

The reason why I know this is when I am hooking up to a trailer I have my truck idling and before I can get done it shuts itself down. So in order for me to check the lights on the trailer I have to start the truck up again and turn the lights back off then on then do my walk around to make sure all the lights are working.

I tried to explain this to the DOT officer but he did not believe me. he would not even let me show him. Shop looked at everything then signed off on the DOT report. I really do not know if my truck is suppose to do this as I did not have time to chat with the shop people they kept me in line way to long.

Got lost in Salt lake on California ave looking for the terminal. I spent an hour messing around trying to find that stupid place. I have been there before but dunno if I was just way to tired or what but man I was getting upset at myself.

Finally I find the darn place and pull in there and they have trailers everywhere blocking all the parking spots. The ones that you could maybe get in had trailers in the way to where you would get almost in a spot and then have to back up because the trailer is going to hit the one beside you. Also could not get a signal for the qualcomm no matter where I moved. hated waking up in the morning and driving around the yard in my undies!!!! Could not even get a connection to my internet!

I now hate SLC with a passion! Go into scan my paperwork and not one scanner works. Every time I have been there this happens. Then have to sit in line for two hours waiting for someone to tell me hey there's nothing wrong here. Yea I figured that out when I sat for 34 hours. Just needed someone to sign off on the trailer.

So finally I get to where I need to be and was greeted with the most gorgeous view I have ever seen! The sun was just setting and the canyons turned red with snow covered mountains. Then the view at the Wallyworld security shack was almost just as good!

So now I sit because I am missing my wagon and hope to snag one in the AM then off to LA. I hope they don't send me off on a wild hunt for a empty because I don't have time tomorrow to do this.

take care all got to get some beauty sleep.
