Actually...your right! Where I was parked at...I could have pulled out and made a hard right onto the fuel island. In other words there is a giant open area right in front of where I was. Now then, you really have to wonder about the tool that hit my truck. Backing gets no easier than like it was here.
BUT I could have pulled in and I would have except 1 I don't like that and 2 there were two trucks on either side of the space already pulled in. I had my reefer set on -10 and it was working hard so I figured I would back in and allow the other too sleep in peace. SO from now on after this incident...buy some earplugs because I've got to look out for número UNO. Someone can blast me all they want for that but I've got the nicer truck so STUFF IT!
10 years and my second time getting hit in a T/S really isn't that bad. Years ago some kid in a Werner truck backed into my scaled down POS Knight truck. He was sure relieved when I didn't even care in the slightest. I've seen trucks totaled out by parking in that corner spot so a scratch is really nothing. Took my pictures and the shop already ordered a new back cover for the mirror.

This happened to me at a flying j with a tight parking lot in florida last year. I parked next to a Super Service reefer with his tandems slid way up, and he turned too tight when pulling out. The back of his trailer caught my mirror and pulled 3 of the bolts out of the door, bent the top of the door out, and broke the mirror. I was asleep and it scared the crap outta me. By the time I realized what happened, he was almost out of the parking lot. I ran after him but was too late. The TS said there were no cameras that far from the pumps, so there was nothing they could do.

as a former love's manager, i can tell you that finding a love's with camera coverage in the rear is very rare
-
there is just something wrong with this.....
"love's with a camera in the rear"......
i could not resist the temptation of it all....
canuck in da truck Thanks this. -
I don't want to sound paranoid, but ever since I saw a hit n run at a TS, if I remember, I write down the name and number of the trucks on either side of me...Ya neva know...Sure, it can change once I'm asleep, but it can't hurt!

Might be better to use a digital camera.
It would show that you are properly parked and then take pictures of the neighbors. -
Sorry to hear what happened to ya, DNA. And yeah, it is your fault. If you hadn't been there, it wouldn't have happened!

Just kidding, driver. -
good idea--doesnt cost a thing to take a couple pics--then if you need to--just delete them in the am
sometimes a camera can be your best friend
not sure about loves in the rear--dont want to see what is on that cam -
At least someone has all the right answers!!!!
-
In theory that's a good idea, but...
Suppose the guy whose number you wrote down leaves without any incident, and then another truck who tries to park in the vacated spot does the damage while you were sleeping? You might just end up blaming/getting someone in trouble who was an innocent party.
Something to think about.
