They run pretty much like what you said USA is going to. It's almost all regional freight now at Heartland, has been for awhile. They hire drivers to run the region that they live in, supposed to get weekly hometime, etc. They were one of the few big carriers that was actually profitable through the recession.
USA is gonna have to make some changes in dispatch when the electronic log thing happens. Maybe it'll be a good thing. -
Regional's going to be a good news/bad news sort of thing for me. Good news: from where I sit, it looks as if I'm going to be avoiding New York and New Jersey for the most part. Bad News: it also looks as if I'm going to be avoiding Louisiana and Texas (two of my favorite states to run.) Heck, I may even move to Texas just to get the Texas Regional runs (just kidding - maybe). I'm one of those guys who tends to stay out forever before heading back to the homestead so this is going to take a little getting used to. It might not be so bad, though; we'll see.

I asked my fm about regional.....he said I didn't want to do it. No further explanation needed. I stay out five weeks then go home for five days. Its seems the fastest way to get the year behind me.

????
I didn't think we had a choice in the matter. I stay out quite a while myself, and come home for about 4 to 5 days. I actually prefer it that way, to be honest. -
From what I was told, it is just a matter of time before we are all regional...just depends where you live to when you will be put on it....I was told from some other drivers that Knight does the same thing, but I'm not sure if it is the exact same or not.
