I see a lot of them in Ontario, Canada..............anyone know, do you haul auto stuff in to/outa Ont?
-
Actually we have a small fleet for Canada freight, about 25-30 of us, mainly run loads from our Taylor, Mi terminal to mainly Ontario and some Quebec loads as well, there are also a number of OTR drivers that P/U loads in the states and are required to take through to the customer in Canada. - there are a few people on the fleet who work out of the Tonawanda NY area running loads through there. I asked once how many loads were delivering in Canada the next day and was told 54 loads being delivered. (I think this may have been at a busier time though, seems a little slower now.
We don't really do alot of automotive into canada. - some Nissan but not to a factory. -
by design..theyre prly trying to keep their csa score up. my company is doing the same thing, less miles and no pay raise.
this is company specific,i dont have elogs but the company im with is switching all trucks over by novermber from what theyre saying, but they DO have a "line 5" for personal business, taking trk home w/o a load etc.
this is the industry trend.
100% legal w/o fudging it at all,it can indeed be hard to log over 2500 miles "legally" depending on when the loads become available (timing),whether drop/hook, and how long it takes the shp/rcv's to get you out.
#### happens..its happend to me,more than a few times.
they prly had that trk matched with a driver as soon as they had it in the shop and cleaned out. (if they even bothered to do those two things)
your company per what you said had a bad safety stat score, this is the result...theyre trying to be compliant w/ the rules and stay in business, bottom line.
id say the way to go would of been to just switch over to LTL,youd think w/ 15 yrs at the company he would of known someone or built a reputation and could of switched when a position opened, but instead hes gonna switch to another otr company and find out that hes jumping from one pile of #### to the other w/ no vacation time or seniority. -
What a stupid statement. Especially when you compare your two years to his fifteen years with the same company. It really amazes me that a driver would stay out for 7 days, only running 2500 miles and actually be happy with that. 2500 miles is 4.5 days work. The other 2.5 you should be at home. That's why you dump these ratty 48 state bottom feeders and find a regional job. I am sure your company appreciates your dedication as they look for a reason to can you for the next guy willing to work for even less.Guitar Man and sevenmph Thank this.

whats going on is these bottomfeeders know they have their drivers trapped in their company provided jail cell and they dont care if youre sitting because they arent paying any or minimal additional expenses during the time that the trk is sitting,so its fine for them to sit you those 2.5 days. but you alrdy knew that.
personally i hope csa and the elogs leads to more and more of these companies running more and more local and at worst, regional. and if that doesnt make otr less profitable,id be in favor of limiting drive time to 10 hours like theyre considering in congress right now, that will move stuff more local/regional for sure.BigBluePeter Thanks this. -
Listen all truckers and you will hear
A tale of a company not to go near
For days and nights you'll drive and drive
Making only enough to barely survive
I guess in one sentence I'm trying to say
Runaway truckers don't drive for Conway -
You can do 3600 miles legally with e-logs. I did it several times when i was with werner and you cant cheat thier system (much). But then I wasnt in a 62 mph conway trk too, so maybe just 3200 for you 8)

Its not the hours per day thats the problem its that drivers like to piss away a lot of thier time in the middle of thier 14 thats the problem. I run like an expediter and I rarely ever have issues getting things done. A lot of guys just arent satisfied running until the job is done before taking a break though and its thier downfall. The dispatchers arent stupid. They can see inconsistancies in the way a driver runs and they are going to load you according to what youve proven that you can handle in the past. Most of the guys complaining about no miles wouldnt run them right if they had them.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
LOL - 3600 miles - thats team miles for conway truckload
