Ill try to answer as much as I can

Pay is on Thursday. On wed you can see what your pay is through the Qcomm. End of the week cut off is Friday @ 2359

Yes you pay for the large back door lock and your kingpin lock...they have it split over about 6 weeks if I recall

Out of pocket expense on your truck would be cooler food cb...crete covers all you'll need to get started

Elogs is coming. I've been on them since sept and frankly like em a lot.

I can't answer any questiions about day to day ops as I am onthe dedicated container fleet.

    Good luck andd welcome aboard!

Just found out today that Marietta no longer does the full orientation. I will get there at 7am on Monday morning, Do drug test, paperwork, physical, work wellness test, and road test. Then Lacey said they will shuttle van us to Lenoir City, Tn. for Tuesday and Wednesday. kinda disappointing because I live about 2 miles from the Marietta terminal and wanted to be able to sleep in my own bed while doing all of the orientation stuff...not gonna happen.

I am on day 6 with trainer. I am a school grad and believe me....school is ONLY to get your CDL. The real training has begun! I have learned so much so quickly and I know I have a ways to go. My trainer is super cool and very helpful. I could not be more pleased thus far. Out of the gate we did an 1800 mile run from Texas to Mass. and now we're headed to Indiana on a near 1000 mile run. I say I have driven 2/3 of it and my trainer is in the front seat the whole time. Plus he is telling more than just how to drive a truck but he is helping learn how to survive this life. I think I have a huge advantage because of that.

Are you guys getting a lot of short runs lately? I can't seem to buy a run over 400 miles. I'm on an awesome 99 mile run right now... Seems like they get shorter every week.

No way...I don't have the skills or patience for it...I'm kind of a 'loaner' type personality...I like having my stuff where I put it, and I like to be able to spread out if I need to. Besides...with my attitude, I would have to have the Greyhound terminal location directory handy...I'd have a new recruit ready to leave before I'd get 'em trained.

I get my share of the full gambit of mileage...some short, some long...I've been getting more and more of the 12-1500+ runs.

I am now sitting in the shop after a 2450 mile week...on Wednesday nite, my APU went kaaaapoooie and no a/c. It took me 3 hours after shutdown to get breakdown to put me in a motel. I had to deliver in Pendleton, IN Thursday, then to Indy's new shop...this terminal is a J-O-K-E. It's been open since January, no food near there except a Denny's...no shower, no laundry, no driver access after hours...and there is a convention in town, and all of Crete's authorized motels were full...so they were going to try to get my apu running...and leave the service, and electrical problems for the next day...but didn't get to it...so I got to sleep in a truck without a/c...thankfully it was in the low 70's.

I can't believe drivers can't access the terminal after hours. Is that SOP for most carriers?

    Hey S/S,
No APU and no room in nearby approved company motels? As an ignorant, non-Crete driver, in that situation why couldn't you just idle for a/c? From a cost perspective it's cheaper (to the company) than the motel and all reasonable alternatives were exhausted. I think a/c in record heat and drought is sort of a basic human right in the civilized world.
