If there's any job in trucking that rivals driver turnover it's the Safety Directors position. Too bad about Joe. Now if we can get Jim back, who Joe replaced, then maybe the rapport between all the drivers and various departments can get back on track.

Without notice? If so, that's rather drastic.

Hey Steve, how goes the new gig? I just got off the phone with Mort and he said Joe went home Monday night, sent an email in to Calex saying he resigned effective immediately and that was it. I hope he had another job lined up because he sure as hell burnt his bridge behind him on this deal.

Carlo,I should be loaded and headed back on Saturday. I'm not sure if we'll be seeing each other. What truck do you have? Your truck that I'm in has a few issues that need to be addressed when I get back in, I think an injector is going bad, the front end is completely out of alignment, and a few other minor issues. Did they say that you would get this one back, or are you going to stay in the one you have? They found the problem with my A/C and it will be ready when I get back. Be safe, I'll touch base with you after I get reloaded.

Sitting in Ontario at the great T/A East 21 hours into my reset. I have 3 drops to get off tomorrow starting at 5am 2 miles down Milliken Ave. I should be done by 2 then load either tomorrow night or Saturday morning. The trip out was fine, I took 80-76-70-15. With only 15K in the wagon it was an easy trip over the Rockies, if I was loaded heavy or it was winter I would have been on 40, but this way was the shortest and quickest, plus it was comfortable enough that I was able to sleep the first 3 nights without idling. Be safe all, God Bless!

Johnboy,
You seem to be the resident Calex guru, are they currently hiring? I see Mort is no longer listed in Safety, but Brian instead. What's up with that? I'll thank you in advance for any response.
thanks

The new gig is going pretty well. We've been working on the I-476 expansion project on the PA Turnpike a lot lately which is good money (state rate), but #### if I don't miss Calex and running OTR. It's so much more laid back than doing construction hauling. Especially on a major interstate highway project.
So sad to see that Joe did that. I really thought he was a pretty cool guy, and enjoyed shooting the bull with him, as well as with Mort and Brian, when I'd come in from a trip. I too hope he had something lined up before he quit.
Have a safe trip back east, John.Last edited: Aug 18, 2011
JohnBoy Thanks this. -
I was in Effingham Tuesday night and saw that Calex truck in the TA shop, didn't know what it was having done but it was there for a good bit.

Yes they are hiring, they are always looking for qualified drivers. Mort is still there, Brian is also. Joe pulled what an unhappy driver would, he quit unexpectedly via email Monday night. At least he wasn't under a load......lol
