What's even more interesting is how perception effects job performance or outcome...
no doubt...the above sample just happen to be truck drivers...but none the less a sample of the general population...
how many cops feel the same way?
how many DA's feel the same way, Judges, those who hire and so on...
You can easily see how inner held perceptions do overlap into ones job...(perception effects or influences outcome)
And effects statitics...
Now imagine if they were cops, instead of drivers, who held those same perceptions...it really explains a lot...

Cops have guns though. All we're allowed is less than lethal wasp spray or a fire extinguisher. I've personally never been afraid to be anywhere. The freaks aren't so scary when you're a freak yourself.
-
Yes, they have guns...which also explains the high rate of cop shootings amongst certain demigraphics...
Now they're simply a fearful person with a gun...and who feels more justified in using it...
The response on this thread does explain a lot...
About being afraid to be anywhere...when i was younger I wasn't...and or when I was homeless i wasn't...
But here's the thing...I become some what weary of being in any economically depressed area, with people loitering...regardless of color or nationality or gender...
If I were in Japan, in an economically depressed part of Tokyo...and came upon 30 Japanese males...I would be hesitant to walk through them...
If I were in Britian, and they were white...same thing...
In other words, my focus wouldn't be on their color, rather the 'condition' or 'setting'.... -
wasp spray...hmmm? i like that one. I was saying fire extinguisher cuz everyone has one and its handy like a six shooter. but ya, wasp spray is good too. as far as no one being victimized in their stories, im sure they were lucky, but that doesnt take the feeling of apprehension away. we all know what happens in these crime ridden ghetto areas where the police dont respond unless they have a platoon with them. we all have something in our trailers that some of these ########## want.

Baltimore is not that bad I lived there 22 years and my father and uncle are both truck drivers.
-
The only place I felt the need to carry my personal protection equipment was in a part of Cinncinati of all places...I grew up in Baltimore City, one of the worst places in America, so I'm not easily concerned, however, this particular place, at night, had me concerned as I had to drop and hook in an unlit lot in a very sketchy area with groups of locals eying me...
-
I guess being or feeling 'scared' is a relative thing...
The most scary place I ever had to enter was some hay barn resturant in the middle of no where on some Nebraska back road...

At the time, i felt so out of place...I was like in 'hee-haw' territory...and was allowing my 'percieved fears' effect my rational mind...
But the thing is...I was hungry...and out of hours....
I sat in the truck for as long as I could...stomache growling and all...finally...I just didn't care...I figured the worst they could do was say 'Get out boy'...(obviously i watched to many of those 'grease lightning' movies with Burt Renolds...
Anyhow...I walked in...i wanted to turn around...but stomache did not...
i opened the doors...and everyone in the place stopped eating...froze...and looked at me...(just like in the movies)...and after about a 3 second pause...just resumed eating and talking....
(I have a feeling they would of done that to anyone...)...
Anyhow...I was seated, served, and treated very nicely... -
