i still call it a 9, missoula also called them 9's. a gear is a gear and theres 9. even in those pictures theres one exactly like it that says 9 speed with 1-8 and low. so they can call it whatever they want, 47 speed, 238.9 speed...even if the official technical name is 8 something or other, its a 9 speed.

If anything it is an 8 spd not a 8ll. There is no blue splitter button on the side of the shifter for deep reduction, so no low low.

    scottied67 and Logan76 Thank this.

:biggrin_2559: good luck with that. Last time i checked I was 30 up from the bottom of the list for senority. I have a least a month or 2 on you here....

so 750-30=720 so 700+ drivers ahead of BOTH of us for a NEW truck lol especially since they only got a few trucks....

Just curious and not implying anything but why does WS buy used trucks as replacements and so few of them.

thats easy, New cheapo Freightliner $120,000, Used 300,000miles +/- Freightliner same cheapo model $40K-$75K.

Plus a NEW truck is a mystery, it can be a good truck or it can be a dud, once a truck is broken in you know one way or another what it is.

I'm sure if W/S had the BILLIONS of Dollars in the bank that the Big Companies have they would be new, but since they are a much smaller company, they work smarter to be more profitable in a Biz that has a VERY narrow profit margin.

oh and they buy so few most likely because we USE our trucks unlike other companies that LEASE their trucks (as in NEVER own them) they have to manage the mileage over the lease term and turn it in under the lease agreements miles.

where as with us we can drive our trucks until they die because W/S OWNES them, they get their money out of them since a used FL isn't worth much, it can make more money for them going down the road rather then selling it.

They used to buy new trucks, but then when the economy went south they stopped buying new, they stopped matching 401k, and drivers took a cut in pay.
