For me it's when I have no choice but to stop completely. I try to time them out, downshift and creep up on the light slowly. Sometimes it works, but quite often, that light won't change until I've got the truck at a dead stop.

try to take off a jacket.

Pull out your atlas.
Or try to read a message on the QC that you really need to read...now.
I used to use a similar tactic when I would load at Budweiser in Williamsburg, VA. Sure enough, after sitting for hours, I'd kick off my boots and hit the sleeper. BANG! Dock plate down.
Never fails, indeed!7122894003481 Thanks this. -
flash your headlights

Leave your cigarettes in the sleeper or at night leave a light on in the sleeper and they will change so fast you have to just pull over

Get a infrared remote control for a TV or DVD, VCR player something like that. Aim it at the light and push in 911, it will change RIGHT NOW. Same thing the cops, amberlamps and fire use although more high dollar hardware that does the same thing.

I am not asking if you happen to have one in possession....lol

You got the directions mixed up. Get a universal remote- a good powerful, long distance one. When it's time to program it to the model of TV you'll be using, program it with "911" instead.
Aim it at the sensor that SOME traffic lights have, it looks like a fez cap on a short pole.
The light will change to green in around five seconds. I use it going up and down U.S. 69 in Oklahoma all the time. Seems like about a third of the stoplights on that route have sensors. And you need to get close for it to work, the TV remote has a weak light compared to an emergency vehicle's lights.
You guys are making me give out secrets here.scottied67 Thanks this.
