Yes.....but explain what "supposed to" means.
Break it down for us less educated folks.
Short haul pay = _______
Lay Over Pay = ________
Detention Pay = ________
Miles paid vs Actual Miles run = ______% difference
Average Miles per week = _________ -
ok first off if you dont get home when you are suppose to thats a YOU issue.I have worked on the otr side and now i am on the regional side and getting home has never been a issue one time with me.If you dont get home when your suppose to on a regular basis then thats a issue that you need to discuss with your fleet mgr.And after discussing with him or her and its still an issue then you discuss with his or hers boss.I run regional now and i am home at least for a 34 hour restart every weekend and most weekends two full days.
Ridinwithpride and goodchoice10 Thank this. -
I drove for USIT 10 months, left 9/1/2011 to take care of my teenage daughter (I'm a single Dad). Your right, the pay scale is a mystery that reveals itself as you complete your time. I was in fleet 30, my guy always treated me fair and I left with him asking me to stay. I will answer your questions in direct order, as I have received all these types of pay:
-no short haul pay if you are OTR, if you are regional there is a sliding scale, short runs/more CPM longer runs/less CPM
-lay over pay $120 day after the first 24 hours
-breakdown pay $120 day after first 24 hours
-detention pay is $15/hour after 4 hours (past appointment) at the shipper or receiver
-miles paid v. miles ran averaged per run for me was about 10%
-miles per week for me was 2561/week for the 10 months I drove.
I have posted on this site many times that USIT was not perfect but that driver communications was 90% of the problem, I communicated via e-mail daily with my fm, equally on the QC and 3-4 times per week on the phone. I never waited for breakdown pay or detention, I simply reported it and was paid by my fm most times without waiting the 24 hours.
USA takes care of the drivers who do their work, those who dont are cast aside, and should be for the sake of the whole.
If you do your job its amazing how smooth things can go for you at USA. The dispatch after hours was not good, but my FM accounted for that too.Ridinwithpride Thanks this. -
not all accurate information, I addressed it in another response

What's inaccurate ??
You stated ZERO short haul for OTR drivers. USA is suddenly a region company only?
West Memphis to Memphis -- 9 miles paid, for what could be a 50 mile run. And take 3-4 hours total. Less than $4 for your time seems fair to me.......
Layover pay....if you get it. May be $120 after 24 hours. Dunno, but my friend who drives there has yet to get a dime.
The same with his "so-called" detention pay.
Miles per week are as you stated. But a 10% shave off the top, concerns me. Regardless of the company.
Swift is notorious for this same BS. This is what we pay, don't care what HHG or your GPS says.
Again, I'm basing my opinion on what my friend has told me. He's waiting for the first of the year, then he'll be gone.
Any time someone spends the entire week in orientation, repeating the SAME question about pay, without getting an answer. Raises a red flag with me.
On the plus side for USA. Anybody that steps into a truck without FULL knowledge of his pay. Deserves what he gets, even if it is nothing. IMHO
