I was just wondering if any of you drivers on here have ever heard of or seen a truck with two clutches? A driver was telling me about some older trucks he's driven, and he said this one truck had two sticks and two clutches, you would shift one with one clutch and use the other clutch for the other stick. Is this even possible or make any sense? Because I know the old twin sticks had one clutch. But maybe that wasn't even a semi tractor, I don't remember. I ask this because I am interested in different kinds/types of trucks, not because I believe all the good ol' truck stop stories.

I've never seen or heard of any thing like that. I've driven a few twin sticks and the clutch is just the same as it is now. Maybe it could be for a PTO or something like that but I'm just guessing. He might even be mixed up with the clutch brake and the clutch. I date back some years and started driving in1975 but you never know what all is out there.

Nope, this guy said the truck actually had two clutches, and judging by the reactions so far, there probably never was a such thing...

Truck drivers will tell you alot of things that arent true. You will learn alot of things that are true and alot of things that are BS, you just have to get good at your problem solving skills.

Like me. One time I was delivering a 9 foot wide coil in a dry van. This is a problem obviously as it was 6 inches wider than the trailer, so it was really squeezed in there. My problem solving skills kicked in and I built a trailer stretcher out of copper wire, a 9 volt battery and 2 wheel chocks.

    Im pretty much a hero.

That story is like an old joke.

Many years ago a guy goes to a freight company looking for a job. This guy had never driven a truck before, but wanted to real bad. He was talking to the terminal manager, telling him about how he had driven trucks on the farm, and other trucks like that.

The terminal manager takes him out to the yard, and shows him around the trucks he would be driving. As they walk up to one of the trucks, the terminal manager opens the door. With both of them looking inside, the terminal manager ask the man "Do you know how to double clutch"?

The would be driver looks inside and says, "You ain't fooling me, one of them pedals is got to be the brake".

This one driver was telling me about his truck has 3 pedals on the floor. How you supposed to drive that thing when you only have 2 feet?
